Muffler for looks not sound

Hey everyone,

I am thinking about getting a new muffler just for looks and i have a couple questions.
1. Can i get a muffler off ebay and it be ok?
2. If it is cheap will i get that horrible lawn mower sound and can i use a silencer to stop that.
3. Is getting just a muffler welded on at a shop ok? Will it still pass emisions?

Im sure ill think of some more but any help would be great. thanks

I went to a local muffler shop and had a magnaflow muffler and tip put on. No problems with emissions and it's not too loud either. Definitely louder than stock but not annoying at all. Cost me $220 total.

Your gonna have sound even if its not a exhaust system and just a muffler tip welded on. It won't be as loud as a real exhaust system, but you will have just a nice little sound. And yes a ebay tip will work and it will come with a silencer to help lower down the noise. Oh and almost forgot yess it will pass emissions.

Just go to a muffler shop and have them weld a tip up. They have a bunch of tip designs to choose from. Lancer bumpers hide the muffler well enough that if they do a good job welding most people wont know that the muffler is still stock. I did this on my Ralliart because I liked the sound of the stock stystem and you can't tell unless you get under the car.

i would recommend to just pay the extra bucks and get a decent muffler..because if you do even have a silencer its still going to sound ricey as hell. all the silencer is going to do is help keep the sound low..but not delete the sound..

i did the same. dont bother with ebay, just drop into a local shop and get a quote for a magnaflow muffler. shouldnt cost much more than $150 total (depending what you get i suppose)

for $200 shipped you can get a full catback exhaust and bolt it up yourself.

search on ebay for the N1 catback exhausts. They are great, i had one on my lancer. Also they come with a silencer. although i think they sound pretty sweet without em

that is way loud

i dont know what you had going, but the average lancer doesnt have the power/speed to justify that much loudness IMO

the one you found will fit. Takes just 5 mins to weld on and probably will only cost 15 dollars to weld.
