Newbie Here! Here's My 09 GTS

Hello everyone!

I'll just start off by saying I am a complete and utter newbie when it comes to Mitsubishi.... For the last 6 years of my life, I have driven a 2001 Ford Focus (Modded, of course) But that only left me wanting more. A couple buddies of mine have Evo's, and one is a member here.

So, after drooling over it for a long time, I finally pulled the trigger and picked up my first import, a 2009 Lancer GTS w/ CVT in Octane Blue Pearl.

Here are some pics:

So, anything I need to know right away about this car, any special 'breaking in' tips?

And I do have plans for her. Oh yes, do I ever. But For now, just going to enjoy the stockness, and revel in the fact that I'm enjoying this new car so frickin' much.

Hello to everyone! Suggestions MORE than welcome!

Oh, and I'm Matt :headbang:

Congrats! They sure look nice don't they. I drove to the store today and some guy said "nice car man" or something like that. I was like there's something I don't get often. lol

Uhm. You only got like just a little over a 100 miles to go for break in . I can tell by the pictures. Drive in a moderate speed, but don't be afraid to push it now and then while break in. It wont hurt the car. Cheers{thumbup}

^^^^

Thanks for the tip, appreciate it.

And yeah, I have noticed people giving the car a lot of second glances.

Which is cool. hehe

Bump to say hello to more people on the boards!

BUMP

Hi Everyone! Any tips?

Lumpy Aug 14, 2008 10:45 PM

Congrats and welcome to Evom. Tips? Keep it clean (in terms of bugs/tar and stylewise as well). Research, research, research when picking your mods. Oh, and ditch the dealer plate frame and bumper sticker soon.

CrazyMatt Aug 15, 2008 12:19 PM

Thanks for the welcome Lumpy!

Yeah, I am totally planning on stripping it of the sticker and dealer frame very soon, just haven't had ANY time yet.

Also thinking about debadging the back, just removing the 'Mitsubishi' and 'Lancer' lettering, and leaving the symbol....

SabaUnited Aug 15, 2008 01:50 PM

Congrats bro. I think I'm gonna take the mitsu badge off and move the lancer under the 3 diamonds.

Go to ebay and just type in "08 lancer" and you'll find a ton of things to add. I def recommend you picking up the vinyl overlay. Good luck man!

CrazyMatt Aug 15, 2008 04:30 PM

I saw the vinyl overlay... it looked pretty sweet.

I have been searching the forums... but I don't see too many products for the
4b12 2.4l engine and CVT transmissions.....

But that's ok.. spent all my money on the car purchase.. now have to save a couple months...

SabaUnited Aug 15, 2008 05:37 PM

Yea I'm the same way. Mine is only weeks old and its not easy being 19 and making car payments. The few mods I have done are pretty cheap like chrome trim and blacked out grill. I did save up for a shark fin antenna for like $80 cus the stock is a joke.

CrazyMatt Aug 16, 2008 08:31 AM

Yeah.. I do like the look of the Shark Fin.... very streamlined.

Hey.... that looks like my car! Welcome to the Octane Blue family!

At minimum take out the dealer bumper sticker. When I purchased my car, I told them I don't want any sticker or plate from you, and if you insist to put them on then give me an additional $1000 dollars as advertisement discount. {thumbup} At the end, of course they took off everything for me.

If you're like me who cares a lot of appearance then I would first invest mud flaps and then put paint protection film on it because that will protect your car from paint chipping.

I am not a huge fan on performance modification so my car will probably stays stock. My last modification would be the wheels and that would be it.

Great car man, keep it nice and clean, make sure you think about mods first and how they might effect your warranty.

cookster116 Aug 16, 2008 11:28 AM
