I've gotta question about paint

As alot of you have seen, I got my Evo 7 kit painted. Heres the link for those who havn't: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=93806

Anyways, my question is, when I picked up the car I didn't notice cause I was in a hurry but now in the right light it looks like the bodykit paint is about 1/4-1/2 of a shade lighter. Sometimes you can't even notice it but other times it's pretty obvious. Alot of people I've talked to said that the paints not gunna look exactily the same cause it sets differant on the material its on but it really bothers me. Plus I kinda figure you get what you pay for and it was only $500. I'm planing on painting the car a differant color next year but until then the color match thing is gunna bother me. If anybody else has the kit painted and noticed a color dif. at least I won't feel alone here. You guys think I should go back?

well, the stock kits came like that too. if you have noticed that. i think that the color will be different, if its painted on a different material than the rest of the car, i mean the body of the car is metal, and the kit is fiberglass, so you are kinda bound to have different shades.....

Thats what I figured, thanks man. Anyone else have an opinion?

You're both off. It has to do with the paint's age and weathering. The paint on your car is about 8 months old and has been weathered and exposed to sun and **** so it's faded. They mix up paint using your VIN number so it's the exact same color as your car... except when it was new. Only way to get the entire car to match is to paint the whole thing.

Well... Nevermind, LOL

Iamkar33m Aug 15, 2004 02:18 PM

Dont worry overtime the paint of the kit will get weathered too and they'll start looking the same.

KoreanEvoVII Aug 15, 2004 02:30 PM

yeah dude, just dont wash your car for like a month LOL,

If they baked the kit after painting it, then 1 month is good to wait. However if they DIDNT... then u gotta wait 3-5 months.

maybe they didnt blend the paint??

escodotcarter Aug 15, 2004 06:16 PM

either way the car looks hot to me man

There is no way they could have blended the paint because then u would not be able to tell unless u stare at it for a long time.

Still looks good though. {thumbup}
