S tech's
 

I got my tein s tech's earlier in the week and i get off of work to late to put them on and it has been too rainy to put them on because im doing it at my friends house but his garage is too full of junk but he has a spring compressor and all of the tools we could ever need :) thats y im doing at his house..but my question is if i have the spring compressor will it make it alot easier to put them on? and would there be any problems i might run into while doing the installation?

You don't need a a spring compressor at all. Your new springs will be short enough to get the nut started by hand.

If you have them use them. I did.

But the stock springs aren't as easy. So when he makes the final turn of the nut and the spring crushes his face in, he might wish he had it compressed... {thumbup}

Lay the assembly on the floor when you take the nut off. That way it just shoots about 3 feet away from youacross the room. Not hard at all.

Anyone who aims the assembly at their face while taking it apart deserves to get hit in the face. :lol:

^ That is a dangerous and improper way of doing things. Always use a spring compressor.

What do you guys work for OSHA or something? Use common sense and it's not any more dangerous, just faster.

My vote goes to being safe and using a spring compressor, it doesnt cost you anything to rent at autozone and that way you know there wont be an issue. If youve never done springs before you dont know how or where they will kick. Id rather the install take an extra 20 min and not have the chance of a nice ride to the hospital.

Eh...you don't need em. Air tools will get the job done in 2 hours if you have any idea what to do. Have a pal compress the spring a bit when attaching the strut....I had no spring compressor, and job went fine.

No, I used the same method as you. I stood on it while my buddy hit the nut with an impact gun. Then we went and looked for the washers and stuff...

I still don't think it's a good idea. And let's face it - if he's on EvoM asking us, he's a n00b. And I don't want to hear about him dying from swapping out springs... {thumbup}
