you know if you push the clutch in when your going that slow you wont jerk. Every manual does this when it drops into the low RPMs. You hit the nail on the head when you said that you feel like the car is stalling, Thats essentially whats happening except in second and third gear your car is moving fast enough that your tranny is keeping the motor turning. Thats what your feeling, your motor trying to take the night off and your tranny kickin its ***.

I could be wrong though, its happened.

What about changing out your front engine mount? Might take away some of the initial jerk

yeah stronger motor mounts i know decrease wheel hop, and im pretty sure it would help with the jerking that hes talking about.

It will get better with experience.
Actually, "rev match" is pretty important. again, that comes with experience. The closer your RPM to your gear ratio, the smoother the shift will be.
I believe, here is a basic range for our 09 GTS manual.

roughly:
1st: 2500rpm @ 10mph
2nd: 2000rpm @ 20mph
3rd: 2000rpm @ 30mph

use this to estimate your rev match. when later on, you wont need to. as you drive more, it come naturally.
approx, I forgot, but I will change them after I get off work
I appreciate your input on this, but I don't think I should need to drive my lancer any differently than any of the other 15 or so manual cars i've driven. I've NEVER had this problem in any other vehicle. Also, when people drive my car who have a manual of their own, they're always shocked.

Rev matching isn't the issue. Pressure on the gas isn't the issue. Basically, the way I drive it isn't the issue. Unless, of course, all of my friends and dad (who have no issues in their cars, mind you) magically forget how to drive stick when they sit down in my driver's seat.

It honestly makes me wonder what kind of terrible cars some of you guys have driven if you think all cars do this. Maybe all Lancers do this, which would be a terrible thing, but certainly not most cars.

No, really. Every manual does NOT do this in the low RPMs. If I was only having this problem in 1st gear (which I would expect...), I'd agree with you here...but the fact that happens just as often going 40 mph makes me disagree.

Yea at 40 my car doesnt do that. you should probably get that checked out. I have to be going closer to 15-20 to make it hop and even then its not bad. Somethings up.

O dang, now I know what you are talking about. My car jerks too in 2nd and sometimes 3rd. Let off gas let it run, or let off gas and press gas again it jerks.

Hmmm, it is especially bad in cold weather too.

ride the clutch a bit more between upshifts and down shifts.....although idk why youd downshift....2 times the wear.....brake pads are cheaper than a clutch

and read the manual, your supposed to shift at 3000 rpm approx....idk the exact number

i havent had problems with mine yet. Just different rev points than other 5 speeds. No problem after 2 days of driving, I shift at 3500 all the time.
