gearbox stuck in reverse gear

My car started having problems today.. I drive an 2.0L 08 manual gts, mods on it are a fujita sri and magnaflow highflow catback.

I was reversing into a parking spot, normal manual driving procedure:
1) get in the right position to reverse in
2) shift to reverse
3) ease off clutch and slight gas until im in the spot, brake when there
4) clutch in and shift into neutral to park.

In the last part, i clutch in, but it is physically impossible to shift into neutral.
The first time this happened, I panicked, kept the clutch engaged and tried to push harder, let the car sit, then do it again - it wont budge.

Eventually the car stalls on me (after about 10-15 seconds). If I let go of the brake, even though my clutch is fully engaged my car will lurch backwards. It is as if the clutch is easing on me even though i have my foot all the way down. The engine sputters a bit, hits the sweetspot, passes it, then dies.

I looked around and I've come to a few possible reasons
1) clutch fluid is low or leaking (likely problem but dont know if its possible to do a self check)
2) my transmission linker is causing the problem
3) the shifting fork has something in the way
4) my clutch plate is blown (unlikely)

The thing that throws me off is the fact that this has only happened when I am in the reverse gear. Has this happened to anyone? Anyone have any idea what it is? I need to get it checked but I have midterms this week. I live 1 hour away from home on my university campus, and I believe the drive home is safe but at this point i dont think i will risk it.

any help would be appreciated,
thanks!

i say bring it to the dealership ASAP and demand a rental car. one time i was driving around, and my clutch fluid line popped out (somehow the retaining clip broke) and i couldnt engage my clutch. luckily i was already in neutral stopped, but it was still kinda scary. there i was with a friend, bleeding a clutch line practically on the side of the road

No matter what the problem is, this sounds pretty serious. I agree with the above post, take that bad boy in to a dealer ASAP and have them address the issue. Who knows which gear you'll get stuck in next and not be able to get out of?

in a manual, u can shift out of any gear without using the clutch...just need some extra force.
as long as u can use the clutch to shift into gear, you can always drive it yourself to the dealer. but if ud rather play it safe, call up roadside assistance, thats what they are for.

hey guys thought id repost with an update, had a great experience with stockie mitsubishi in waterloo, ON

Turns out the problem was in the hydraulics of the clutch, they opened up my tranny and found clutch fluid all over my clutch assembly, the hydraulic system had no fluid in it. They found the broken bearing, replaced it, refilled the fluid and bled it, put my transmission back together, did front wheel alignment, all covered under warranty so i didnt have to pay a dime
