Triptronic Downshift
New to triptronic transmissions and need some help, does the upshift and downshift happen at any rpm and speed?
Will I be able to go to 4th even at low speed or go to 1st at very high speed? Thanks! |

I'd like to race the car at the track and I noticed that when I'm at a certain gear, it won't downshift until I am at a specific rpm/speed. It seems consistent so I don't think there is an issue wit the transmission.
Entering/Exiting a corner at a high gear may give me a slower entry/exit speed than being at a lower gear. |
Sorry its a conventional automatic, the non sst models

If you have a built stregthened auto you can flash/remap the trani for race/street You can set min ups to max ups. Max lockout downs & min downs A built box doesn't shine unless you reflash up pres, shift time, down pres, max solenoid duty cycle pres & convertor lockup remapping for tightening it up high A built box with std mapping shifts like a std box. Only strength insurance You can run a bit of inceased pres with just welded planetries But std clutch pack style = flexing clutch packs, slip & heat Auto mode can be very good. Tippy mode for holding gears like driving a manual 7.5k auto mode upshifts are quite good. Past that is wasting the torque in the next gear 4th to 5th you can set to say 8.5k so you can finish a drag in 4th auto mode As far as downshift lockout revs go, you need to allow some revs to the next gear up My lockouts settings are 2 to 1 31mph max 3 to 2 60mph 4 to 3 93mph 5 to 4 155mph Those lockout speeds are 6k in the next gear down Above those speeds I'm locked out of downshifting. Idiot proof This is with GTA 3.334 final drive. Long legs Changing to a 3.684 final drive would redline all gears quicker I hope this makes you understand the auto workings a bit more |
