I'm gona go nutz

Ok I was looking to buy a clutch kit for my 2002 OZ,
But now RRM came out with Stage 1 and Stage 2 clutch kit :O
What should I do???
I don't want organic clutch, ceramic only.
The guy that will install the kit for me told me to get ACT clutch kit.
I don't think they made one for Lancer OZ.

Tell me what would you recomend plz.

P.s. If you are going to tell me to run a search don't answer this q.

I'm curious why you want an upgraded clutch before other 'major' engine mods.

gregivq Aug 19, 2004 10:33 PM

Because my clutch is all ready worn out ( I bought the car a month ago and it was used )
so why should I buy a crappy stock one when I could (don't know if should) get
a more durable clutch kit, right?

ive been thinking about getting the stage2 clutchkit...for the 50 dollar difference might as well but i just gotta find sommeone who will install it for a good price

Change it yourself, and it's free. :D Seriously, changing a clutch is not that hard. I can change one in a DSM in about 3 hours. A Lancer (other than the EVO) can't be much more difficult.

Not that hard?! I get tired just watching the boys at Road Race do clutch installs. I think its one of the most difficult mods you can do on your own just short of installing a turbo kit.

lookslikeanevo Aug 20, 2004 12:09 AM

yep i heard the same as richard...clutch and intake manifold were the hardest on our cars

gregivq Aug 20, 2004 07:48 AM

so coming back to the subject .........
............... where can I get a clutch kit for my Lancer??? OZ??? .......................
................................... ceramic ......................
..............that would last ................

Or maybe RoadRace could give me some feedback that would convince me to buy their kit??

I had the ACT clutch kit in my car... i was pushing over 250whp for a while and it never once slipped. I had the clutch in the car for about 40k miles. Never had any issues with slipping, chatter, driveability, or weakening.

The Stage 2 clutch from RRM is the ACT clutch. I would go with that... you won't be disappointed.

Didn't I answer this question in one of your other threads? I know I've answered it in at least a few others too. You really should have run a search. We say it because reposts make it harder to find answers, not because we want to berate newbies.

Mirage clutch kits fit, throw out bearing does not.

hmm sorry I didn't notice that

HobieKopek Aug 20, 2004 09:01 AM

No prob. :)

Be warned that you'll have a very on/off feeling with a heavier clutch. If I remember correctly you mentioned that you were learning stick on the Lancer. You may want to stick with a heavier (if even that) organic clutch. That way you won't lose the ability to slip/feather the clutch like you're used to. Your driving (mostly first gear) will be significantly changed with a ceramic/metallic clutch face.

Didn't I mention I know s@#% about trans.

gregivq Aug 20, 2004 09:06 AM

Well I knew how to drive stick just had to get used to Lancer but the fact the clutch is
almost worn out made it a big issue.
I'm probably going to get the clutch kit this week and I know it costs a lot of $$$
to change it that's why I am so concerned about it.
