Question Auto Up/Down Driver Window not Working

Got the car last week of April and randomly yesterday the button on the driver window no longer seems to work. If I press it down it goes about an inch and stops. Then I have to press it again, can't hold it in even. Can hold it in going back up but its not automatic. Any ideas on what could be wrong with it before I make a long trek out to the dealership?

Well now none of the window controls on the driver side work. The lock button still works and so does the mirror adjustment.. great....

Can you maybe re-explain that?

You'll have trouble finding someone who knows a lot about the '08's on here, but since it's new, just take it to the dealer and let them deal with it, it should be under warranty.

For the record, I do not believe the driver's window will auto up, only down.

definitely take it back.

well, after making sure that you didn't engage the window lock--though the windows wouldn't move at all if that was the case.

You have to hold it (more like pull it back) for it to go up... But if you hold down the driver's window switch for a second it should go down automatically. And it is just the driver's window only unfortunately.

I know how to operate the button. I think they must have screwed something out when replacing the door trim when the dealer installed the leather, because the other doors window controls work. It started with the auto up/down feature not working, then today randomly all of the buttons stopped working. Luckily I had put the windows up prior...

Gonna have to take it back to the dealership I guess. I can't figure out how to get the plastic cover off and I definitely don't want to snap or break anything. What is most confusing is that its just the window operation, everything else there works, the door locks, side mirror adjustment etc. I didn't check to see if the light on the driver window button is lit or not, will get a chance tonight.

Sounds like maybe the wiring harness just isn't connected properly and/or they nicked some wires

Dude, I'm so sorry! Didn't even see the '08 in your avatar... They really need to separate the '08 into like a third gen lancer section or something.

Took it back and it took em about 10 minutes to fix it. The wiring harness in the door was loose. Not a big deal, just a pain to drive out there. The local dealership closed here a couple years ago, wonder if Mitsu turns around like it's doing now if they'll get another franchise out here...

as far as the driver's window button goes, it's kind of a 2-step button, the first click is manual down, if you click it all the way down to the 2nd click it's auto down. same goes for up. if you pull it up one click it's manual, if you pull it all the way it's auto up

My passenger window is messed up, the auto roll up/down doesn't work and the window stops 5 times when I roll it up. I have to let go of the stitch and pull it up again to get it all the way up.

I've tried lots of times/ways to reset it but I can't get it to work.

I've read that you need to roll the window down and hold the switch for a few seconds, then roll it up without stopping and do the same. The problem with this is the window stops 1/3rd of the way up every time. I've also tried it the opposite way, starting at the top, and that doesn't work either.
Am i just doing it wrong?
