ya i really think that the paint sucks ***** on these cars after reading all those posts and having rock chips on my hood, driver door and side skirt it kind of reenforces that. i mean i under stand getting them on my bumper but when it happens in those other places it boggles the mind. i had a truck that i took off roading a lot, and didnt even have this problem.

Alright, I just got back in and I noticed the same on the top of the trunk lid with scratching like that and some deep enough down to the sheet metal and I can literally feel the gash/chip in it. It's aggravating and to the OT, what did you wind up doing with your hood. Did you touch it up, have it professionally fixed, or did you just replace it?

Its most likely just scratches in the clear coat, take it to a detailer, they can usually buff it out...

it's under the clear you can see the bear metal...that will not buff out at all, i would not use touch up its going to look so bad ,your better off using nail polish. your going to have to get the scratches sended out of the trunk all the way to the metal and then prime and paint the trunk and blend the 1/4s with clear.good luck..

Yea I got 2 chips in my chip protector already... makes me wonder what was the purpose?! Im bringin it in on Tuesday the guy said they usually fill those... and somebody dinged me in a parking lot. Cant do anything about that hopefully it buffs out.

And get this! theres a spot above my passenger side fender that looks like they might have gotten missed while painting, so I might be getting an all new paint job....? I'll take a pic of it when its not covered in snow.

BTW, the dealer is not going to give .02 cents worth of care... Mitsu's paint is known for the suck, get used to it...
Ok my car is covered in snow as we speak. What exactly am I supposed to do about it? Its going to slide off eventually and I'm not going to use my brush on it! what am I supposed to do?!

I think you snowbrush it, but try to avoid dragging it along the surface. Push the snow up and away from the paint, not along it.

Does that make sense?

Go to Canadian Tire and buy a soft snow brush and try cleaning the snow off your car every time you get in it. If you leave snow on your car and just clean your windows, then stop being so lazy LOL!!

would it be safe to melt the ice, like by lightly hosing the hood would melt the ice/snow off lightly?

Should be. As long as it's not sliding over the hood, you're good. And even if it does slide over the hood, there's a good chance you're fine anyhow.

The paint sucks. I have a huge amount of chips on the hood. The manufacturers including mitsu are using "environment friendly paint" which is another way of saying weak and thin paint job.

Sometime this week Im calling up Mitsubishi offices about the paint, clear coat, and rusting issues. Im sick of this crap, the car is not even a year old and I've had problems here and there.

I've always maintained my cars, used proper products and washing techniques, stay away from bigger trucks on the roads, parked far away from other cars, and everytime I wash my car I notice more paint chipping, rust spots forming, and the clear coat flaking off...stupid car is not even a year old and already shows signs of a new paint job.

Mitsubishi is a joke...from staff at there dealerships to some of the cars they put on the roads. I really got kicked hard in the ***** by buying a Mitsubishi product.
