incorrect temp reading

after searching and finding some info i decided to post.
so what im dealing with is a temp gauge that jumps past hot when the car is running.
for ****s and giggles i replaced the t stat and sender still the same upon start up jumps and stays above hot. the temp is sitting at 194(thanks solus)
i also ran a new wire from sensor to the harness in the cabin and nothing changed

also on a side note dome light gas gauge and temp gauge work when they want..

i have checked all the grounds i could find

Sounds like it. You can use a variety of other clusters tho including a evo 8 cluster to replace it with. You'll need to get your current mileage switched over to the new cluster. The dealership can do this but I'm not sure what they charge. Might want to look your fuses over first.
