Speedo and climate control won't stay lit at same time.

Speedo and climate control won't stay lit at same time.
Is this just how Mitsu made it? This is the first forgein I've owned that isn't a toyota.
It's a 03 Oz.
But I've noticed if I turn the dimmer up, the climate control will light up and not the speedo, but if I turn the dimmer down, the speedo will light up and not the climate control.
I'm assuming it's probably something in my wiring, I just don't know where to start looking.
