2003 lancer oz rally ruff idle and oil light
hey guys ,
just got my first lancer ever love it so far its rather low and yesterday I went over a huge bump shook my chest lol felt like the front end was gonna blow up but now I have a very very ruff idle lack of power and at idle the oil light is on also found out the last owner did a **** poor wiring job and now part of the engine harness is melting but it almost seams like the motor is only running off 3 cynders instead of all 4 anything I can look into or anything at all would be wonderful this is gonna be my new daily and I cant have it down for long im scared to drive it and I just got it on the road
im thinking oil pump but its at the local shop idk if they do imports or not

not sure how hitting a bump would cause the oil pump to fail...but generally, if the oil light comes on only at idle, either the oil is too thin, the pressure switch is broken, or you actually don't have enough oil to maintain pressure...
when your oil light comes on, it means there is less than I think 3psi of pressure...normally you should have between 15-20psi of pressure at idle...

do yourself a favor and get yourself a code scanner to check for any sensor problems rough idle is often linked sensors this will help to narrow down the actual issue. I have a 226K 02 lancer es and when the oil light comes up for me, its low oil - this sucker is eating oil. - listen to your engine when it revs, if the engine starts to sound like a small tractor those are the lifters - low oil -
hope that helps!
