Have you changed out your spark plugs yet? The stockers could and probably are quite fouled by now (I think around 6-7k is when I changed mine and the stockers were black). Try gettin' your replace on.

Talk to VisualKei. He just posted a thread about his car idling itself to death and, though the symptoms are different, the problem may be similar to yours. (I'm thinkin' sparks too)

Here's the thread.

Could that be the reason that i have to hold the ignition key forward 2 seconds or more to start??

Im at 11,1123 miles, doesnt the dealer change these baby's out sometime before then...what is the recomended time fram to change the spark plugs in the lancer...if you drive it hard... I do a lot of fast takeoffs and my average cruising speed is 85 to 90 with a top speed of 110 being reached at least twice a week ( some twerp with a neon thinks he is faster, guess he isnt ; ) )
I thin the plugs need changed every 6 months on my carmaybe every 4 months

they shouldn't have to be changed every 4 months, every 2 oil changes is a little high. But it sounds like the stock plugs run rich and get fouled up easily, try some of that injector cleaner to see if it makes a diff.

haha i JUST got them off sparkplugs.com like 2 seconds ago... hobie's got the ESP going

[EDIT]: yea, IK-16 is the # for our lancer

[EDIT the sequel ]: i saw in another post something about gapping... i'm not too knowledged about plugs so i'm curious what gapping is and if i have to worry about when i put them in. someone in the post said the IK-16 denso plugs have a plastic piece so you dont have to worry... anyone confirm this? (SQL?)

depends... if your stock plugs are still in good condition you will notice a small increase... if your stock plugs are really crusty (like mine prob are) then you will prob notice big time
