Newbie's question

can anyone tell me how do I pull that connector out before I pull the bulb out so that I can change my headlight bulbs???
damn!I tried the entire night trying to pull that thing out and it juz wont!
Is this some kind of joke?

God!!! :dunno:

can anyone tell me wut is the correct way of pulling that thing out??

I know this is stupid and it really is..... :crap:

Sometimes the plastics connector is in pretty tight or I just have plain weak hands so I used a screw driver to help.

Edit: grammar

drummerjun Mar 13, 2003 02:19 AM

I could pull it real hard but I'm afraid if I might damage anything..
Total newbie under the hood...:dunno:
so do I have to pull it real hard to get that thing out?
is there anything that I could squeeze or press in order to pull the connector out?I saw there's one squeezy part on the top..
but still cant work....

ghostrider Mar 13, 2003 02:42 AM

I used some pliers on the squeezy part to get it pushed in real good. That, and use something else to wedge between the bulb and where it connects to kind of pry it out. Those bulbs are nice and snug in there, so it may take some force.

Don't worry about damaging the connectors. The plastic for the connectors are really durable. (Of course within reason and not an intend to destory them.) I was able to push the plastic tab that locks the bulb in place out about 1cm with the screw driver without a problem.

LaNceRiTiZ Mar 13, 2003 08:44 AM

just use your fingers...no need for any tools..
..just push on the tab and pull..

I pushed the tab in gently with a screwdriver and then used the plastic ring to help me push the bulb out. But that usually results in the old bulb flying across the yard  As long as you don't want to save your old bulbs, that's not a problem.

Basically, just push in the pushy thing and yank. Wiggling helps too. It will slowly come off as long as you depress it hard enough. Then take the ring off and pull the bulb out. It's harder than it should be, but :mitsu: decided to put crap in the way.

squeeze the tab on top with your fingers, and use a flat head screwdriver to wedge in between the light, and socket. then just turn the screwdriver side to side and it'll come out. {thumbup}
