Problem with engine possibly? Over rev's

Well... This just started to happen recently and I have really no idea of what it could be.

I have tried searching, but have not found anything. The problem I have is when say i shift into 2nd,3rd ect. and i accelerate the RPMS just go ahead the speed im going and if id let off the gas... the car would drop to like 3k or whatever the speed the car is going in that gear.

If you understand its sort of like if i had my foot just a little on the clutch, so theres all that extra wasted gas.

If you know what my problem is please help. Thanks, alex

Your clutch is slipping my friend, time for a new one!

Are you sure though? I was pretty positive when i bought the car, it had 52k miles when i boght it, and at 50k, the clutch was replaced....

Anyways... is that the only thing it could be? Because i also have this wierd problem of my oil light coming on after i drive high speeds then go to idle... Probaly something to do with oil change/ they did something wrong.

Hopefully its not a new clutch... My clutch seems so nice, and smooth... I dont see why it would need to be replaced

Oil light wouldn't have anything to do with this... and sorry to say, but people say they just put in a new clutch ( or new belts, suspension, A/C work, etc etc) to get you to buy a car. But what you described is a usual sign for a worn or broken clutch...

Oh, what mileage are you at now? And the previous owner might not have broken in the clutch properly and caused pre-mature failure! Best to get it out and see what's up... If you explain the same symptoms to a mechanic, they'll say clutch too!

Well it has 58,000 on it now.

But I purchased it from a dealership, Not mitsu... Just some random dealership

Yeah, they'll only do "surface" checks to make sure safety and driveability is alright before leaving the dealership. As long as the clutch worked, that's all they cared about.

You can try to adjust your clutch pedal, but my guess is you need a new clutch.
