Distorted sound for fosgate speakers

So the other day, i showed one of my family friends my car.

btw, i have the rockford fosgate sound package, (sun/sound) and i know that the 10 inch in the back wont do anything, but my concern is the speakers.

i thought these speakers would be pretty good and i let it slide for a while but the sound is kinda distorted and not clear?

anyone else notice this? I compared it to his system and his was very clear, sure it was aftermarket, but the s factory so im pretty sure they wouldn't have underpowered the speakers and etc with whatever amp it has.

I think my particular problem is that the tweets and the speakers dont let out enough hi's so the lows and mids kinda over power. Even if i adjust the EQ the hi's are just weak in general? care to share your experiences?:mitsu:

It's a stock system, so it's going to have some shortcomings. I've noticed the same things about it you have.

for a stock fosgate system though?

it should sound with at least some hi's. those tweeters werent put there for no reason.

has anyone added a new amp to see if it improved the problem?

This sentence was what clued me in. You are a sucker (not trying to be mean, keep reading). :mitsu: just slapped whatever they could in there. Cheapest HU, cheapest speakers, cheapest amp, cheapest sub. As long as it's Rockford Fosgate, it's fine to :mitsu: because they know people like you will buy it. It's basic business.

Just accept it - the parts in your car are crap. They're better than the parts in the non-RF Lancers, but they're still not high-end audio parts. You said that you weren't expecting the sub to be good. Why do you expect the other parts to be?

If you expect a factory stereo system to rock your socks, then you need to buy a MUCH more expensive car.

touche

so giving it more power with an amp wont help? any sound specialists who know the answer to the question, not engine tech heads plz.

You can pickup a Bugatti Veyron...it's stereo is worth $28,000

It does sound a bit "cheap", but hey it's a lot better than my old speakers in my old '03 Matrix... and for the price you got it for, I say it's decent.

However, the subwoofer is not up to my standards (I like my hip-hop to be thumping). Worst part is, my sub is already dead and will get replaced in a month or so under warranty.

At the moment, I'm looking to replace at least the sub with 2 x 12" coupled with a different amp. And then from there, I'll probably go into getting aftermarket speakers.

The amp is underneath the driver's seat.
