No Spark, Car Won't Start

Well my car decided to not start up today. i pulled the plugs and they were covered with gas. So im getting gas. I replaced the spark plugs just to make sure and it still never started. By that time i had to go to school and had no time to mess with it. Once i got outa class at 12 i pulled the spark plugs again and checked to see if there was spark. no spark. how can 2 coil packs go out? is there a fuse linking them both together? any help is welcomed.:crap:

is your check engine light on? you should go check for code. your probably have a bad crank sensor.

lancerrally45 Feb 11, 2008 11:36 PM

none showed up yet. ill check again tomorrow

lancerrally45 Feb 11, 2008 11:37 PM

oh. prior to this the car started up for about 4-5 seconds then shut right off. this is what followed

anyone else have any ideas?

i just checked the coil packs and both are at 9k ohms, which is within the spec.

Not the CPS because you wouldn't even get fuel if you were having trouble with it. LOL, I would know cuz until I'd clean mine off it'd not start randomly.

idk bro...just need spark/ fuel/ and ecu telling it when to fire that bad boy....

odd you are gettin no CEL...maybe its the ecu???....

lancerrally45 Feb 12, 2008 09:19 PM

how come it wouldnt be the crank sensor. thats the only thing that makes sence to me.

lancerrally45 Feb 12, 2008 10:05 PM

the #1 fuse under the steering wheel is good. i just check it. and i reflashed my ecu just to make sure that wasnt it. crank position sensor is the only thing i think it can be, maybe becides a relay

SLVROZ_03 Feb 13, 2008 12:29 PM

^Well, it's worth a can of brake clean to find out! If you feel daring, just drill a hole above the sensor (remember that the wire leading to it is held by the cover!) and spray away!

lancerrally45 Feb 13, 2008 09:42 PM

well i think while im down there im going to put on a new belt and sensor. but i dont want to do this untill i know for a fact that the cps is for sure bad. the only way i can do that is by putting it on a scope.

no code came up yet

lancerrally45 Feb 14, 2008 08:57 AM

bump..... for anymore opinions

SLVROZ_03 Feb 14, 2008 05:33 PM

Only once did I get the CEL when the CPS acted up. Lucky for me the CEL stayed until I made it to AutoZone. If I added up the number of times it wouldn't start for this "problem", maybe a hand-full?

pr0ph37 Feb 21, 2008 08:56 PM

If you find a solution for this lemme know bcuz my car is sitting in the driveway now with the same problem, im a few steps behind. tomarrow im changing the plugs but just in case....
