HID's and DRL's
 

ok i cant seem to find this answer anywhere. if i have the ballasts can i just replace my low beam lights with the hid kit and not worry about the bulbs burning out? will the ballasts bump up the volts and make my hid's run in the day? and if i cant do both do you know which wire to cut for the drl's? thank you.

you seriously couldnt find anything? there are literally tons of threads about HIDs and DRLs and stuff....

yes you do need a relay, that is triggered off of the parking lights, but you can make your own "harness" for pretty cheap, basically just the cost of a relay ($4) and some nice gauge wire (12ga, few bucks). I have a dual relay on mine, because my alarm flashes my parking lights, but thats bad for the HIDs, so basically the first relay turns on the main relay when the key is in the "On" position, so my HIDs dont come on at all if the car is off.

well i found stuff about it burning out the bulb but they never said if they had the ballasts so i didnt know. and can i just cut the drl wires so i dont have the completely?

well if you do delete DRLs, ideally you'd want to just get new 9006 male harnesses and wire those to the relay, so you wouldn't even be using the stock headlight connection. thats what i did.

why is it that when you pull the fuse for the drl's they still stay on?

the drl's are triggered from one of the computers through coding, i havn't heard anyone of actually disabling the drl's yet, just bypassing.

is this different from the bypass that jrox is selling? to me it looks like it cancel's the flicker that an hid gives off when the lights are on its 2 position. not the DRL flicker.

I just bought ignite HID kit for my 2010 gts and I attached everything and pulled the DRL fuse and now I dont have any DRL's when I turn my lights on my low beam hids come on and I dont have a bypass or harness at all.

Its in the fuse box under your hood just go through the manuel and I thinks its fuse number 13

I pulled my drl fuse and it did nothing. You can find some relays on ebay for around 50 bucks or some chinese relays for 3 bucks....just do a search for hid relay.

I dunno how it is in california but in canada it's the law to have drl after a certain year (1998 or so i think) so it wouldn't pass inspection with the drl wire cut.

Or whenever you start your car, turn your headlights on...that will solve the issue lol

The fuse doesn't disable the drl, and some lancers don't even have the fuse in the box like mine. The easiest way to get rid of the drl is the relay. Spend like 20 bucks or less on it. Why cut wires when you have this solution?{thumbup} And I guess you can plug in regular halogen bulbs into your hid ballasts to make it brighter. I've seen it work, but the bulb will not last long at all. Search it on youtube. theres a clip on it.

The DRL's are controlled by the ECU, no way of "bypassing" it. You can use products to fix it though. I have a spare set if anyone is interested. 10+ shipping via paypal. PM me

No one wants the inline connectors I have for fixing the DRL hid issue? They are collecting dust....its cheap! If not I will list it on e-bay/
