clicking from front driver side wheel

well i did a search but could not find. well when i drive i hear a click click click. it jsut started today. i think it scoming from the brakes or axle. just wondering if anyone knew what this was and is it covered under warranty. i have 34,500 miles so if it is i want it fixed b4 it goes over 36k. i heard it once in my friends car and think it was the axle but i dunno.

I had the same problem.. just started clicking one day on my evo,.. it almost sounded like something was stuck to the tire and hitting the wheel well on every rotation,, I kept checking it out and during my 30 mile trip it went a way slowly, has never come back! Don't know if something got stuck in there or it was hunk of tread from my tire or what... good luck on your search for the answer.

this used to happen to me with my old car... and it was..

drum roll..

a rock in the tread. happened all the time.

does the click become faster when the car goes fast or does it click more when you rev the engine more?

if it's the car itself, make sure to check the tires for any nails or bolts.

if it's the engine it's probably lifter clicks which isnt a problem.

It's a little too premature to say if your half shaft is bad, unless under serious abuse. Cars don't get this until +100K marker, except under heavy abuse.

I have this on my Talon.

A tick sounds different from a click. If the axle is bad, it would sound like putting a baseball card on your bicycle spoke. Check the booting on the axle.

hmm it was dark so i couldnt check it. but the noise actuallu stops i think when i drive fast. i hear it when im slowing down and sometimes when im acceleratin. ill check tomorrow b4 i bring it to the dealer.

I've had clicks like this before, and here were the results:

- clicking only sounded at slow speeds and clicked once per tire revolution: lug nut was loose.

- faint clicking noise each rotation of the tire: rock in the tread

- soft clicking noise, inconsistent: bush branch stuck in suspension.

Can't say I've ever had a bush get into my suspension :) Just given you crap Brian :D But that's what you get for off-roading with the Lancer! (were you?)

The causes of my three clicks:

1. Rock in treads ($0 fix)

2. Thumb tack stuck in tire ($10 fix)

3. 2 broken lugs. ($10 fix if you DIY)

Actually, it was a tumble weed on the highway I couldn't avoid. I'm afraid to take my Lancer offroading now that I have a $1200 suspension setup with a travel of maybe 3 inches.
