02 Lancer won't turn on :(
So, for a while my car had been over heating. I changed the tremostat and it was completely fine for a few months then it started over heating again. Every week I would have to put water or coolant to prevent it from doing so. I figured it was my radiator but given I didn't have the funds for it I kept driving it as is. When I was coming back home on the freeway, it started to shake and slow down on its own before i pulled over. It was extremely hot. Now it doesn't turn on but it sounds like it still wants to. I'm not sure if it's the head gaskets or idk. Just need some insight because no one I know really works on mitshubishi. Help :(

Sounds like you ran it until it went out. I would be 99% sure that is a head gasket. Weather its around 1 chamber or multiples, you lose enough compression and it doesnt want to go. I had that same issue, had to redo my head gasket myself. you will only make it about 30k if you dont resurface your head, and check the block.
its about $900 for a shop to do it, its about $150 for you to do it. Their are guids here to help with that, just remember #1 piston in TDC at the end of it all. |
yeah check compression...also where was your coolant leaking from?
