2008 Lancer GTS no start please help
I have read many threads and there are alot of possibilities. New to Lancer its actually my girlfriends car. She left her sunroof open one night and we got alot of rain. Next day car wont start appears to have no spark. Car ran fine when she parked it. Now is also throwing a code p0340. Not sure how to get to the camshaft sensor or if i should start somewhere else. Thought it might be the timing chain it appears to be loose but not sure exactly what is okay and how to check timing. any help would be greatly appreciated

The two events may be unrelated. Change the cam sensor first.

Hopefully this diagram helps.

I doubt it has jumped a tooth. The timing chain is supposed to last a very long time. the code you are getting is not generally a mechanical related fault. Most likely a sensor or circuit fault. Try swapping sensors and see if the code changes.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are: ) •Intake camshaft position sensor failed. •Open or shorted intake camshaft position sensor circuit, or harness damage, or connector damage. •Intake camshaft failed. •ECM failed. If you really believe the timing chain has jumped a tooth. Pull #1 spark plug set to #1 TDC firing and the timing marks on the camshafts should line up with the cylinder head facing inwards to each other. |

The camshaft closest to the front (intake) should be at 9 o'clock and the exhaust (rear one) should be at 3 o'clock when at TDC 1. Swap the sensors. See if the code changes. Test the sensor circuit to the ECU.

Here's a schematic to test the wiring.
