Clock Dimming (radio too) when HL's are turned on

I searched on this but nothing.

I turn on my headlights and my clock and radio dims in brightness. I turn off, and its okay.

I have a big amp, which is hooked to a cap. I've removed that connection and still same thing.

Does this mean my battery is going to the ****s?

Anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks.

Mine does the same and so do the other 2 Lancers I've been in. I think it's because you can't pull too much power otherwise you'll drain the battery. So when you have only aux lights on, not a big deal, but with the HL's on then it dims them as well. Plus, they clock/gauges ect are easier to see, IMO, dimmed at night with the HL on than with the HL off.

Digdat, who's that in your Av?

Yeah, they dim so they will NOT distract you from the road. It's basically a safety feature. Most cars have a version of this, newer cars especially.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm not too worried about it was more curious than anything. It happens if I do headlights or just running lights.

tanner65 - I don't know who it is. I found the pic on newsfilter.org under the pics section. I can email ya the full shot if interested ;)

It happens with both the running lights and the headlights.

Tell me you guy's aren't serious. {OMG}

WFO - Are you saying that when you turn on your headlights that the clock lighting doesn't dim down? You might want to get it checked out then.

try checking your dimmer switch on the left of your steering wheel. if that wheel is turned too far down you wont be able to see your clock, radio, or gauges very well at night. that wheel controls how much it dims when you turn on your lights.

if you have to turn on your headlights, it's probably dark enough that the dimmer clock reads fine, so what's the problem? everyone's does that, it's not a glitch.

Nope, Just being sarcastic. I thought everyone knew why it does that. :lol:

Cool, sometimes it's hard to tell when people are serious or not, especially when they are typing!
