According to motor trend, they test ran the engine (300hp/315tq) for 31k miles at 120mph!

I love the new LR3 except for it's $44K sticker. The family plan was to get Land Rover Discovery a few years back. Somehow how I found a web forum. It distracted my plan into buying a sedan with a huge wing. Land Rovers still stick to it's true off-road heritage.

Anyone know why Land Rovers lose so much in value so quickly (except the vaunted Defender). You get a Discovery and some Range Rovers for dirt cheap on Autotrader.

I think 44K isnt bad for a luxury SUV that has a very nice interior, cool futuristic looking exterior, and awesome off-road capability despite its looks. It beats the hell outta dropping 55 grand on a Hummer with a cheap plastic interior, the off-road capability of a Tahoe, and the inability to drive on normal roads or park anywhere within a mile of a mall.

I agree with dcorn - the price is actually a good value if you're one of the few SUV owners who off-roads. The LR3 has some great features and capabilities.

As for dropping value; a big part may be Land Rover's poor reputation in build quality and reliability - which I believe to be an unfounded reputation.

I think the LR3 is worth the $44K price tag too. It just jumped from a $33-35K base sticker from the prior Discovery model. Basically, out of range for my budget. Supposedly, they will offer a poor man's version of the LR3 with only a V6.

LR3----->
Look closely at the Ford trim items inside-
Oh sorry, I work at a Rover Dealer.
I really dig the new 4.4 DOHC Jag V8(300hp/315ft.lbs) in it...... nice to see they have moved away from the 1950's Buick V8 set up.
Old Disco Ones are EXPENSIVE to repair- I'm talking major $$$$ There is not a single fluid that can stay in that vehicle PERIOD. We look at them as a very big piece of bread and butter here. Disco Twos are a little bit better- mostly an electrical nightmare- still have a fluid retension problem- esp. radiators and associated items.
But back to the LR3- Keeping our fingers crossed for much needed improvments lacking in the Disco's of past!!!
Got to dig the look of it- like a baby '03 and on Range Rover.
