Well Pontiac origionally intended to bring over that Vauxhall, federalize it, and sell it bascially as is (Vauxhall is owned by GM) as their new roadster. But since the Saturn project was already underway, to save costs they decided to go with a version of that instead...voila Solstice.

derek: the ITR makes that much HP because it's one of the few (only?) cars whose engine is ported and polished at the factory. It breathes much better. Plus you have issues such as gearing and how the intake and exhaust are set up. All of that contributes to the dyno number

Given that it's a Saturn, I kinda like it. I hope they're returning to their 92-94 roots when the actually built a car that will go over 100K miles without needing anything major- unlike mosy 'Merican cars that have crap like plastic waterpump properllers.... And they finally NAMED a car! My wife drives the very-generically named "SL2" in the same model year as the SL1, SW1 and SW2.... I don't know if this was meant to be a Miata chaser on the track, that remains to be seen. But given that they tried for "luxury" in the interior and suspension, I'm gathering not. And given the relative difficulty in modifying a Saturn it might not ever be much of an AX car or track car... we've looked into a few things for the wife's car and it's TERRIBLY expensive, even for small stuff like firm shifter bushings- they have the bushings cast into the sifter cables!

I checked out several pics on the Saturn website and I have to say that I like the design. They should make a red line version with about 250 HP.

even if i liked it i'm sure i'm too tall for it. sat in a porsche boxster & a miata once & the top couldn't go down cuz i looked like Magnum P.I. in his show in the Ferrari 308GTB (looking over windshield). if you like small droptops i say get the M3 in germany & drop in the old M5's V8. conversion is just an autobahn trip away...

btw i'm only 6 foot.

so your telling us that honda builds the ITR then takes the head off and ports and polishes it

looks better than the Lotus ,Miata and the S2K... too bad the engine isnt stronger, the redline will fix that....... and c;mon 25k vs 45k..... on the elise

I hear it'll handle damn well.... we'll see
