Acura TL
My friend back home (im away going to school) just got an '05 TL a few weeks back. Since his purchace, i haven't heard the end of how fast it is, and how he'll smoke me, etc. I've looked at all the numbers on paper...impressive, but nothing that made nervous. I was just wondering if anybody has driven both the TL and the EVO, or owns a TL and how they stack up.
One was tailing me and ended up behind me at the lights. He was smoking his tires for few seconds trying to take off fast... they're fast from a roll, suck from stand-still however, if you only mod your Evo a little, they are no match.
IMHO, fwd and too much horsepower gets kind of pointless. You really have to know how to drive it and feather the accelerator pedal and sometimes it still doesn't work well. I used to have an 03 6speed Accord and I could light up front tires even with traction control turned on. When it was wet, it sucked 100x more.
If it's just a bit wet, he can't touch you.
It's a nice car though, really nice interior and it's very quiet.

a friend of mine just bought a used 03 evo and he said that he got beat by a TL after downshifting to 3rd or 4th..cant remember...are they fast??....never been in one...they are nice cars though...
i had one before i bought my evo there are 13.8 at the track with good tires the vtec kicks in about 4800 rpm off a launch the tl moves out the hole. it will never beat a evo maybe bone stock with a bad driver. i had the auto they die on topend on 5th gear i dont know about the stick.
i came really really really close to getting a 6speed TL instead of evo. 2 completely different cars. it is NOT faster, but WAY more comfortable.
people who want there TL to be EVO fast and people who want there EVO to be TL lux, either don't get it or needs to be buying an M3.

Not even close from even a roll. since it will "smoke" you, bet him. he has already gone over the edge and is begging to be taught a lesson. don't push the bet, bring it up then challenge his manhood and his car. tell him it is no contenst, that you will smoke him. that his car is so slow. if he backs down, easier target. now you tell him how big of a hypocrit he is and "oh what a pu$$y you are." that usually is good for a free mod.

and besides i dont have to prove it or you dont have to beleave it. i owned the car and that was the pass i did i dont have to lie about it im just letting you guys know what the car can do.
my good friend has an 04 Acura TL. It's fast, yes, but not faster than the evo. Unless ur a horrible driver, i dont see how u can get beat by a TL.
But it sure is a nice looking car, inside and out
