In your situation you also have to be a little practical. The Honda SI or a Sentra SE-R. Forgot about the Dodge or VW. Everyone I know who owns a VW has had nothing but problems.

how about a late model audi A4 Quattro for around $10000 and save yourself a buck or two. I absolutely love my daily driver. It's a 1993 Mazda MX6 LS with the KLZE in it. Great car. Reliable as all hell. V6 power. relatively great fuel economy. 25mpg average. Nice styling with the JDM headlights (a must in my opinion). With a motor that has 55,000 miles on it and mild bolt ons, I spent $4300 including my jspec headlights. Just a thought. There's a get out of debt free card right there.

Definately the SI. There isn't anything in the class that will give you the reliabilty/bang for your buck. I test drove a tc, and then immediately after it an 05 rsx-s. RSX-s was roughly a billion times better. TC felt like driving a pick-up truck, and it had a really high awkward seating position. RSX-s was a fun car. I'd definately reccomend it, but since the SI is cheaper, actually has a newer and more refined k series than the rsx(minus 3 hp though), a LSD, and nav option there isnt much reason to get an RSX unless you can't live without leather.

I was gunna get an SI, but the evo just has a lot more reliable power ability. I was willing to pay the extra dough for what i got. Plus AWD in nebraska is a godsend. Hope i helped!

as much as i like the look of the tc i haven't really heard anything good about it (in fact i've only heard a lot of disappointment about the performance and interior quality).

go with the new si, hands down. awesome engine, great price, cool looking interior, reliable, good resale and there will be more mods available than you can possibly imagine (which means cheaper maintainence).

btw, that 3 hp loss with the new motor is due to the addition of a harmonic balancer. gotta keep things smooth when your redline is at 8500 rpm.

My next car when I sell the evo, not for a long while though, will be a hybrid. Its a great car and 50 mpg! Gets better mileage then my bike.

there is no leather option on the SI.
They get suede race-inspired seats which i have heard very good things about, but no leather. Honda has claimed they will start at under 20 thousand. No one knows until dec 1(their release date) if that will be true. If it is 19995 plus 2 grand for NAV you got yourself a nice deal at 22k.

Or if you can wait and need 4 doors.
