Dodge Challenger coming (pics)

Got this from C & D mag online.

“If the stars align and the green light is given, the earliest you could expect to see the Challenger giving the Mustang a run for its money would be the 2008"

This will be an answer to all the people whining about the Charger not being a 2door. Yeah it's just a regurgitation of the original Challenger, lacks original design, but this thing is hot, and good luck finding one of the originals.

This is what the charger should've been.

And here comes the Camaro. The muscle car era is trying to come back.

Dodge did a study & found out that most customers looking to buy that car wanted performance AND practicality. that's why the Magnum & 300C sold like hotcakes. if they made it a 2 door, it wouldn't have sold as well, not to mention the ins rates would be up.

Bingo! I would not have bought a Charger if it was a two-door.

The new Challenger is going to appeal more to those few who are looking for a 2-door performer.

even if people wanted performance and power, to take the charger name and make the new one what it is... its a disgrace to the name. its like taking the evo and making it a two door convertible because that's what people want at the time. it isn't just wrong, its sacrilegious.

this car is hot btw. so freaking hot. i hope they make it, but inevitably they'll dumb it down, round down the lines, put in a stupid crappy plastic dash, over-soften the suspension, and add hundreds of pounds from only God knows what... you know, americanize it. the concept is smokin though. do you know what i mean? it makes my pants fit funny.

the new charger is what the old one was. a big heavy boat, that went like hell in a straight line. I love the old charger (used to own a 69), but the challenger was the lighter more nimble car.

very true (and i agree almost completely). except for the new charger has four doors and other than the srt-8 looks way too simple for my liking.

Wow, just a little harsh!

The only thing I can think of that the Charger has now that it didn't before is an extra set of doors. I wouldn't go so far as to call an extra door handle a "disgrace." And believe it or not, I have had several people actually try to get into the back seat of our Charger from the front seat by folding it forward.

The Challenger looks alot better than all of the other attempts to bring back the muscle erra. The Charger is a joke and so is the GTO. I mean as far as looks of course. The Mustang is the only one so far that resembles what it is suppose to. This Challenger looks pretty good to me. Brings back some good memories. This is how I used to leave school everday

lol. yeah, i'm more than a little ticked with dodge for what they did to the charger, but i have my reasons. i (at the time) loved the concept (CNG and all) and when they released it, it looked NOTHING like the concept. i even have a picture of me smiling ear to ear in front of the concept at the baltimore international auto show from years back.

what's ironic is that the car in the background of that very same picture, a car that was just about to be released in the US and consequently became my first new car (and first car in my name alone) - was a lancer oz rally.

i'm sure the new charger is a good car, outside of the many electronic control issues they've been having (best friend is a dodge service writer). props to dodge for bringing back the hemi name and selling the snot out of it.

Oh yeah, I don't want anyone who owns a new Charger to think I'm hating on their car. I just don't think it looks like a 60's Charger and don't know why the manufacturers feel the need to badge them that way. The performance is fantastic and they are nice cars, just doesn't look the part. No hard feelings

Man that's a sweet ride. Agreed. I think Ford did a great job with the Mustang and this new Challenger also looks like it will be a hit. Once again General Motors falls behind. Even the concept Camaro doesn't impress me.
