the srt4 will not have an awd version...this has been confirmed months ago.
and yes i'd take the MS3 over the srt4 every single freakin day of the week, 52 times a year.
Damn guys, why are you all worked up over this? Its a Dodge Caliber with a more powerful engine that goes pretty fast on a straight line. It would never touch an Evo simply because the Evo is more refined. Its a tested and proved track/rally car whereas the Caliber is a grocery-getter with more horses. To think that we are comparing our cars to that car is just silly to me.

Leave it up to Chrysler to ruin what could've been a very good thing....
The base trim is either a 1.8L or 2.0L fwd (can't remember what Car and Driver and Motortrend both said). The RT is a 2.4L fwd OR optional AWD. The SRT4 is only available as a FWD, end of story. Mitsu and Daimler Chrysler are sharing lots of parts these days and the engines in the new SRT4 and the upcoming Evo 10 come from the same place. Mitsu, Chrysler, I think Hyundai and maybe one more company have a joint operation that manufactures engines for all of them. Yes, the Evo 10 engine and the SRT4 engine will be very similiar. And because of the close ties between Chrysler and Mitsu, I'm sure there's an agreement to try to not compete too much with each other. They already have the tooling available to make the caliber awd, but I don't think they will because Mitsu's Evo will be. Why else wouldn't they do it if they are perfectly able to?
Yes, I don't remember a lot about it. Mainly because of what has already been said, this info has been available for months. Secondly because after I read that it was only FWD I didn't give a **** anymore and flushed it from my brain...

I just looked up some pics: Bleh!
What the hell is that thing? It looks like that crappy Pontiac Azteca or whatever it was.
What would be the purpose of giving that mini-durango 300hp? To make it easier to roll when you try to corner hard on that 4x4 suspension?

Its a cross between the Pontiac Aztec and Chevy Malibu Maxx.
Oh, and in their commercials they say, "Its anything but cute." Then I think to myself.. yea, that about sums it up. Its downright ugly.

Dont make to much fun of the platform being wimpy, the Evo x is allegedly based on it.
From here among other places. I felt autoweek had the most credibility.

Seems to me that if dodge sees the caliber going down the tubes they could easily make an srt4x4 out of it. Almost like the old days of the stealth and the talon where mitsu and dodge shared platforms.

Sharing a platform with the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass, the Lancer lineup will start with the base model due next spring as an ’08. The Ralliart package will follow—this time as more than a tuck and trim job. Our sources tell us the Ralliart menu will include options like all-wheel drive and a turbocharged engine.
