How long have you had the car...you say its built better than the evo. Have you already started modding, or you just figure it costs 2x's as much it must be better.

I'm now a proud owner of a 2007 Cadillac CTS-V. Since 2006 they now manufacture them with the lighter LS2, instead of the LS6. This lightened it up from the previous 3,800lbs to 3,500lbs. It's a bit more nimble because of this. At least, I think so. The vehicle is built much better than the Evo, it has the same, if not better stock straight-line acceleration. Mine came outfitted with the suspension upgrade, corsa exhaust, as well as a carbon fiber engine dress-up kit. I enjoyed owning the Evo, I may get a X when they come out, or perhaps not. It all depends on how it looks and drives.

hope that rear diff holds up

i've got a friend with a ctsv thats gone through a couple rear diffs (not very modded, barely drives it hard)
and a friend with a newer GTO thats been through more diffs than i can count (lightly modded, drives the hell otu of it)

good luck with it, if you ever get wheel hop let off!

You can just feel it. The handbuilt engine feels better, the interiors seats, its nav system, the BOSE stereo, the way the door closes, the thickness of the seats belts, everything just feels stronger. The paint is better, less orange peel. The hood has hydraulics to raise it. The car is just made better, in my opinion. I still respect the evo in many ways.

Hey you made a great choice. I got a chance to drive a CTSV this past summer and all i can say is WOW. Some people have this feeling that "american cars can't handle", well thats actually very incorrect. The CTSV handles VERY nicely, and the power is great.

I think the CTSV is a nice all around vehicle and has a very nice interior as well! Once again kudos on that buy.

I test drove two, one that had the suspension(the one I got), and the one with regular suspension. The one I have has a bit harsher ride, but it handles very well. The regular suspension wasn't too shabby either, but it was more comfort oriented. In any case I wouldn't have gotten the CTS-V if it handled like crap, coming from an Evo.

I just read about these guys in Luxury and Exotics Magazine.
Apparently, they offer engine, suspension, and exterior mods for all the cadillacs.
The mag showed one rear 3/4 view of the CTS w/ground effects kit, wheels, and suspension mod.
The article also stated all the mods come with 3 year warranty.
Looked pretty good imo.
Try their website.

Congrats. It is a real car.

The EVO is a reinforced soda can.
The CTS-V(S) is like a soup can.

Thanks, I may get a X or IX SE, who knows. Before I made my decision, I almost bought a Audi RS4, but take it from me, it's not all it's cracked up to be. For $66,000 with a $5,000 dealer markup on top of that, it's not worth slightly less than evo acceleration. It didn't even feel as good as the evo in turns, and the acceleration seemed duller then the CTS-V, as well.

LS2's are handbuilt? Are you sure? The only Cadillacs with hand built engines are the supercharged Northstars in the XLR-V and STS-V.

Next year the CTS-V will feature the LS7 and will have 500hp.

yup, hence the additional weight compared to the evo. it's the price you pay for having more sturdy feel inside and more sound deadening. the wonderful thing about that car though is that they worked on the handling at the Nurburgring. Even Jeremy Clarkson said that of all American cars, this is probably the only one that can take corners properly. It's amazing how such a car comes from Caddy. that's the last manufacturer you would expect to make this. I also saw one last year at Summit Point in VA at a drifting competition. was fully gutted and almost as loud as NHRA drgaster.

I would get the CTS-V in a heartbeat if I could afford it. It's a bad boy dressed up in a three-piece suit, IMO.
