i would take a hit on the car and trade it in. IMO it doesn't matter what kind of car you have...as soon as you start modding you can't stop. you'll end up dumping money into the car. at least if you trade it in now you can start modding an evo. don't get me wrong i think srt4 are fast and cheap to mod, but its still a FWD car. upgrade to the AWD

Don't get me wrong I love the EVO but the SRT-4 is more than a Neon and I'm sure they all say that but this stuff on the "NEON" isn't cheap stuff. There is much to say about it like the Quaife LSD that comes with it stock, the fairly expensive rubber in the G-Force T/A KDWs, the McPheirson suspension on even the non ACR SRT-4s... this car stops from 60-0 mph only 9 feet shy of the EVO's and STi's not to mention a motor that can make 500+whp on stock internals with it's strong transmission as well. I'm not sure as to if you guys know what coilovers, sways and strut bars with the already potent powerplant can do at the track. FWD or not.

Ummmmmmmm..... I was afraid you were going to defend it. Don't be surprised if you get flamed. By the way, why would you come on this website with a neon? Just wondering.

Comments like this make me laugh. You are aware that you drive a modified Lancer? Just like I drive a modified Neon. He came on here to ask for opinions. Heres mine. Keep you SRT-4. Finish you suspension work and get a stage 3 turbo kit, bolt-on's and be done. You will end up with a great handling car with some serious power (350-400WHP). Good for high 11's and trap speeds from 115-125mph depending on bolt-on's with slicks. Plus you can't beat lighting up the tires on the freeway. My EVO just did not have that fun factor.

Not to get you too upset, but for the sake of saying. At least we get power windows/ locks in the rear. I don't know about you, but I believe the Evo is just a tad bit more respected than the SRT-4. So tell a couple of your buddies that you have an fast SRT-4 (get laughed at) and I will tell the same people I have a slow EVO (and still get respect).

At leaste we didn't come on these forums with ignorance my friend Dade County. We defend it just as you JUST defended your EVO but it's different because we backed up our NEON and you backed up your EVO? Get flamed? I hope your not trying to compare two ****ty interiors by saying crap about roll down windows, have you heard of an EVO RS? It's mainly to save COSTS but you don't see people talking **** about the EVO RS because it has power NOTHING... ? People buy them because there cheaper with performance in mind if they can live without interior goodies. I as well as everyone else buys the SRT-4 because it is CHEAP and can hand *** in more ways than one... so I'm less of a driver/enthusiast because I'm more broke than you? I happen to not give a **** if the passengers in the rear can more conveniently roll down there windows in MY car... no one touches the windows, the radio, the shifter, the ebrake, the throttle, the locks... ITS MY CAR HOE

Just remember this. We don't have to defend our cars. The Evolution speaks for itself. You asked for opinions, you got them. If you can't handle the fact that your car is in the tuning world considered a cheap joke, then leave. I told you what I thought. If you don't like what I have to say, then read someone elses post. Maybe they will be a little more friendly when the give you their opinion. I think if you want something that is more reliable, dollar for dollar cheaper to mod (considering you can actually put the power to the ground from a dig), then you need to trade in your neon and get something like an evo, or sti, or something to be proud of.

A cheap joke? I say we race, straight line or at a road course and you will see what a cheap joke can really do. Funny that those cheap jokes put down such serious numbers seemingly so your the cheap joke.

Jesus some people really need to get over this "all mighty evo" complex. The SRT-4 is still a nice car, quick, decent handling, and to some, aggressive looking.

There isn't an Evo complex. I had a ralliart lancer prior to my evo and I still miss it sometimes. The problem is, some people just don't have an evo and don't realize how it trully dominates most other cars on the road. Like it or not, it's true. Read Motor Trend or anyother magazine that compares models. My problem is that he wants help from us, but gets mad if he gets a little hard time. Oh and just so you know, I wouldn't get to excited about challenging my evo or any evo for that matter. Straight or road course. You may want to challenge a closer opponent like a regular WRX, because I can spend dollar for dollar what you spend and still spank you like a newborn. Facts are facts. Before you post, make sure you do the numbers. The neon may be cheap to mod, but does it pay off from a dead stop?

The newly elected mayor of Evolutionm.net has spoken for his flock. It should be I buddy. No one is putting down the car you drive. EVO's are nice cars, but if you think they are reliable read up a little. Most of us who have owned them for any amount of time know that statement is just not true. If you use that great launching ability remember things will break like with any car and more so with AWD. The last comment you wrote is priceless. Sounds like you are one of those people that thinks their car makes them who they are. I bet a lot of people don't laugh at your car, but I am sure quite a few laugh at you.
