yea thats what we figured, but how much do u guy think he will end up spending on just the twin turbo set up? just parts i mean. i guess it just depends on what he can find used for a good deal n stuff too, but just tryin to get a number to work with.
Do you mean starting with a VR4 already and upgrade the turbos and other mods?

Just because he just got the car thatis not a sufficient reason to keep it. I have had cars for days and sold them because they were under achiever(92 Miata, CRX SI )and a few other dissapointing little cars that wouldn't make me happy.
Not is the time to turn around and sell it before is too late and before he waste the money and time on such unfeasible project.

Getting a turbo is one thing but converting it to AWD is a whole different animal. If you just get the turbo setup off a VR4 you will be faster in a straight line with the FWD than the VR4.
The price for all the parts can be quite varied. It all depends on the prices you pay for each part. You can find good used parts on Ebay. The only problem is that right now all the 3Ks are now starting to hit the used market and everyone is trying to TT their NA.
When doing my research I found that in the end, if I were to actually do the conversion, an entire engine swap would be the best way to go. You can get a used VR4 engine w/ the harness and ECU (or even an entire VR4 front clip) for between $2500 and $3500 dollars depending on the mileage.
Again, for the average person the AWD conversion not an option to even consider due to the price and complexity of the job.

yea the engine swap sounds like a good idea too, but then money can be an issue as far as install goes.
and does anyone know what was with the earlier models? didnt they have a recall cuz of the transfer case or somthing?

Prior to 94, the old body styled flip light 3000 gt had a few issues. The transfer case was made of powdered metal much like the 03-04 evos. Also all trannys were 5 speed and tended to fail quite often.
I skimmed some of the other responses, so I don't know what everyone said, but I did a lot of research into a TT conversion on a 3rd gen Eclipse based on the 3000GT. To do a full conversion is not as difficult as it seems, since the car uses the same block, heads, injectors. You would have to get new exhuast manifolds for mounting the turbos and a different ECU. They used a twin inner cooler set-up, making things easier for installation, but more difficult for tuning since you'll need new sensors, etc. My recomendation is to simply buy a VR4. Unmodded ones are relatively cheap, plus you get the benefit of AWD. Also, if you want to risk an early year model, it comes with all-wheel steering too.
The best 3000GT/Dodge Stealth site I found was www.3si.org. I would go there for more percise information.
PS -
The stock turbos are 9bs. (I don't know if that was identified already or not).
