Car & Driver Road Test of the 370Z

Just got my C&D in the mail today and they did a road test on the production final production model of the 370Z.

The vital stats are:

0-60: 4.9 seconds
0-100: 12.1 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.5 @ 106 mph
Top Speed: 157 mph
70-0 ft braking distance: 159 ft
300-ft skidpad: 0.97g's

EPA City: 18 mpg
EPA Highway: 26 mpg

Curb weight: 3,373 lbs.

Base price: $30,625.00

The test model had:

1. Sport package: $3,000.00 which consists of 19 in. wheels, Nissan sport brakes, the Synchro-Rev match system, limited slip, and some extra body cladding)
2. Oil cooler: $500.00 (est.)
3. Differential cooler: $500.00 (est.)

So price as tested: $34,625.00

The numbers are pretty impressive considering that the vehicle they tested had 2,024 miles on the odometer, which would mean this car has run it's paces with the auto journalists.

C&D was very very high on the car:

1. "Amazing rev-matching system"
2. "At this price, possibly the best sports car on the planet."
3. Commenting on the improvements over the latest 350Z: "The new car addresses these shortcomings and improves what was already a good package. The result is one of the most desireable sports cars on the market."

The car looks very promising, and I might have to check it out once it hits the dealership.

Thanks for sharing.. this car definately fits the same shoes price and performance wise as the 135i, STI and Evos. It is just another alternative for the customers.

I personally give it my OK since I think the car offers a great package for the price. Maybe Square turbo systems will release a rear turbo mounted kit for it.

The new 370Z should steal from STi and Evo sales, but probably not the 135i; IMO the better bargain is a stripped down 335i.

STS has made some nice kits. I believe they make one for the current 350Z (non VQ35HR).

I heard about them when I was in my GTO phase.

BTW, WRXtoEVO it's Squires Turbo Systems.

Also............. impressive dyno #'s on your C6Z06 on 91 octane.

The Z06 is still the best bang for the buck, but the LS3 C6 Vette isn't too shabby.

C&D had a nice shootout comparison of all three Vette's (ZR1, Z06, and regular C6) not too far back.

for $34k, you are getting a LOT of car.
I'm looking forward to a supposedly lighter, more powerful, Nismo
