GM's CTS-V Challenges America to a race!
this is a dumb challenge...it'd be nice if you could modify so the car could be an actual contender, no more hp than what the stock cts-v has or make it so one can spend as much money as the msrp of a new cts-v to modify their car (including the cost of the car new)...then i think it would be a great challenge

Does the car have to be US-spec? Would an FQ-400 be considered to have no "aftermarket" modifications? Because it does indeed have modifications from HKS, but since they're installed as OEM, sooooo.... hmm.
Even so, I think the CTS-V would still give an FQ-400 a serious challange.
I honestly can't think off the top of my head any "sport sedan" that could challange a CTS-V. I'm not sure if this is still true, but I remember reading that the CTS-V is the fastest (stock) sports sedan ever to go around the Nurburgring @ 7:59. A stock Evo IX went 8:13, so around a much shorter track, it's possible. Too many variables to account for.

They already ran it against an M5 and beat it. Barely. The respective factories supplied professional drivers: John Heinricy and Bill Auberlen.

it was actually a murcielago but yes an fq400 did. does it have to be US-spec? cause then lets ship a fq over here and test it. i think that a new evo might be able to beat it on the track if if was mostly sharp turns and not alot of straightaways.

Cadillac made a great product, I almost purchased a new 2009-10' CTS-V with recaro seats and auto transmission 6 weeks ago(by the way, the auto is quicker than the manual). Without going into details on why I didn't get the Cadillac CTS-V all I can tell you is this:
Grab the Nov 08' Car and Driver magazine. There is a megatest of all the cars that you get wet about(GTR, Z06, Viper ACR,Cadillac CTS-V, Mercedes C63 AMG, BMW M-3,Lexus IS-F,Evo X MR, STI,Ferrari 430 ScuderiaLotus Elise SC) the list goes on and on with about another 8 phenomenal cars.
Anyways, because of the price and the category the Cadillac compites directly with BMW, Lexus and Merecedes and these were the times on VIR(Virginia International Raceway)
Cadillac CTS-V 3min 04 sec.00
BMW M-3 3Min 05sec 86
Mercedes Benz C63 AMG 3min 06 sec .5
Evo X MR 3 min 13 sec .3
Lexus IS-F 3 min 14 sec .0
I can post the hold list but no need to. My take is that Cadillac marginally beats the competitors. Particularily on the C63 AMG case, it is a defeat by marketing, the C63 suppose to have 507hp but because of the damn marketing mercedes Benz detuned the C63 to 451hp. The motors C63/E63 are 10000000000000000000000000000000% identicals with just the variation of ECU programing, output on one is 507 and 451hp on the other.

And as far as the CTS-v challenge goes, some chaps over at Jalopnik are using a Jag to run against the V and many people on different forums believe Jalopnik may beat GM.

The FQ-400 never "beat" the Murcielago. All it did was hang with it, and that alone was the point... to hang with it. The Murcielago runs a second (give or take a few tenths) faster than the FQ-400. Though the FQ-400 was faster than a Gallardo by a second. Those are standard modles, not the fancey Superleggera or LP560/640 versions.
