One RWD car that never caught on which I never understood why is the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice. When they came out, some were complaining about the handling/braking feel but to me that car has so much going for it at the price point that I don't understand why they're not more popular. That turbo ecotec has incredible potential. They had terrible resale value, which means I see them going for $12k with pretty low miles. They even made a few instances of the Solstice GXP coupe before GM went bankrupt. I'm hoping to save up for one as a weekend/track car, or depending on how nice the 2015 Mustang is, potentially sell my RA sportback and get that instead.

the GTR is 3900lbs. and handles better than the FRS.
so what was the benefit of the car being light weight again???
dont think there's any.
I think you guys are forgetting that the only reason ppl consider frs is because it is CHEAP.

summed up what jeremy clarkson wrote as to why he picked the frs as the car of the year!
"It's not a great car. But it is a very good car at a great price. Which makes it a pleasant oddity. And that's why it's my choice for Car of the Year. It is also the reason-after a long argument involving lots of people shouting about Range Rovers-that the GT86 scoops the big prize. This is the TopGear magazine Car of the Year. And a worthy, cheap and amusing winner it is."
"To make a Ferrari misbehave, you need to be doing Mach 2. To make a GT86 squirrel about, you only need to doing 20."

I've heard exactly the same thing said in regards to the Miata; it's a fun car for the price because you don't need to be going fast to get the tail out. I find it odd that Evom has apparently embraced the Miata yet rejects the FRS/BRZ as overpriced, underpowered, etc.

I love my FR-S. Although it's got the power of a Honda Civic Si, the handling and braking is comparable to the Evo. The FR-S has got a nice supercar look to it, while my Evo gets confused for a normal Lancer often. It's a pretty good competitor on the race track as well. The Griffon 86 is posting some good looking times on Tsukuba. I wouldn't give up an Evo for an FR-S though.

Overall, the FR-S lacking power really isn't an issue since the car takes well to mods. Throw a turbo on and you'll have one of the best power to weight ratios and amazing output for its overall price.
