The new camaro z28 to cost.... Way too much

Seriously 75k for a z28 I'm sorry I'll take a gtr for a bit more or a used one for the same price I can't believe Chevy can justify this even with the differences over the ss

So for 75k you get a car that has no a/c or radio

Not to mention there's plenty of other cars in that price range that are superior in more ways than one

It's funny to read the comments of people on Autoblog defending the car. Some people were saying something along the lines of "Show me another $75,000 car doing a 'Ring time in the 7:30 range," more or less... though the 2008 GT-R was doing that years ago. The 2008 C6 Z06 wasn't far behind either, and both were right around $70,000.

I could understand that price tag if the car was maybe 3300 pounds but if I'm not mistaken it's still a 3800 pound pig. I like the direction they took but for a price of close to $85000 after taxes and fees I would need more to spend that kind of money on a Camaro.

A bit overpriced, but the cool thing about this car is that Chevy is extending the factory warranty to cover track use. Which means if you blow the motor, or mess up the transmission, or the brakes warp, (or whatever) after a couple seasons, your covered. Now...does that include ALL types of track use...who knows...but I know if a GTR blows an engine during an HPDE, you might as well not even bother asking Nissan.

I think it's actually a decent car for someone who's pockets aren't quite deep enough for a GT3 and doesn't want the same vette as the neighbor. And someone considering this car has an altogether different mindset than someone who's willing to build (and subsequently, rebuild) an Evo of similar speed.

But I agree with OP and most others here...there are several other cars in the price range or close to it that I'd rather have if I was in the market. GTR, slightly used GT3 (several Pcars actually), vette and save the money, etc.

^^ This.

A $75,000+tax and fees for a brand new Z28 is a lot. I think used Z28's may depreciate quite a bit in the next several years. We can look for a good used deal then, save the $$$, and still enjoy the car.

Definately over priced. After driving plenty of 5th gen camaros (no zl1 or z28 yet), and plenty of mustangs. That kind of money would buy you a brand new GT500, that with full kit would slap that z28 around. And even less, a Boss 302 that would put up a damn good fight in a straight line and smack it around on a track. Im a huge lifelong camaro fan, but no thank you.

I just dont like how Chevy puts R-comps on their cars before testing to inflate lap times.

The claim of the ZL1 outhandling the 302LS is NONSENSE.

I've driven both, and its no comparison.

I don't like it either, but as long as it's a factory option, then it's fair game... just not when they are comparing lap times to other cars that have "regular" summer tires and then declaring it to be a faster car.

But it's not as bad as when Subaru did some lap times in an STI (I think either at the Ring or at the Isle of Man, maybe even both) that had non-factory parts, like six-piston calipers and I think a bigger turbo.
