I agree, vette is a great value.. but its A LOT faster than I want... nice thing about the evo is that I can turn down the boost for the track...

You could catch a cheap flight down (or Amtrak) and drive it back. Maybe stop by ER on the way back for a tune

Maybe they will take $19.5 or so, then you could sell off the SE BBS for a grand since you have already have RPF1's. Puts you not too far from your $15K goal.

Wasn't the whole idea to get something different to learn on?

81k mile theft recovery 2005 S2000 at auction in Portland. Would make a good starting point for a track day build. https://www.iaai.com/Vehicles/Vehicl...92&RowNumber=0

that was the RSX. not that I'm a pro now or anything, but the idea is to get a track car that I won't be looking to replace after a year

quick look up of parts costs, I'd need roughly 5.5k just to get it rolling, assuming there's nothing missing that I can't see and it actually works and runs. that coupled with the fact that s2k's typically sell for a lot at salvage auctions (don't let that current bid fool you, they shoot up a lot at the live auction), its not looking too promising. but I'll keep and eye on it, maybe I'll get lucky.

plus transport. usually it'd only be a few hundred bucks, but idk what the whole no wheels thing adds to the equation...

You could source the missing parts from salvage yards http://www.car-part.com/

Or just carbon the f out of it http://seiboncarbon.com/store/produc...=179&model=481

If your looking for a Cheap track car the Miata is about the Best choice IMO, If it was not for Space I'd have one myself.....the cost of Tires and Brakes are cut in half. You can pick up scrubs for like $350 a set. I say find one for 5-6k in decent shape, use the remainder of the money to upgrade suspension and cooling....maybe a clutch. 2 cents

yup, thats where I looked. carbon fiber parts don't really do it for me. wet carbon isn't light enough to justify the price for me, and dry carbon is too expensive to justify the weight. I'm interested in a track car, not an actual race car where every last .0001 second counts.

sounds like you're suggesting an NA/NB Miata, thats a bit too gutless for me. I'm looking for an NC most actively right now, but for some reason most owners and dealers think their cars are worth more than they should be (based on kbb and how much they sell for at dealer auctions)

As can NA.

Check out this guy that was in the Advanced/Open passing run group with me last event. (bonus footage of me flying by him at 10secs).

He is fast, he does a 2:06 (I am at 2:03 now), which is fast as hell for a NA Miata with the mods he has, and faster than 85% of the people at track days on this track and faster than 99% of other Miata drivers at this track, minus Spec Miata.

His mods:

93 miata
Stock 1.6 engine
Shaved head
Open intake from afm
Ebay 421 header
2.5 pipe to resonator
BC racing coilovers
15x9 TR c3m 225/45 hankook c71
