track car suggestions / discussion
I have a friend that ran an NA at 270 hp, with Turbo. No heat issues though.
Edit: I just remember he had a water/meth set up that he would spray once in a while if he thought it was getting hot. it was hooked up to a button on the steering wheel.

There's a local guy with a Kraftwerks NC that tracks his car (he's actually switching to a built 2.5 right now), and he basically needed to do every cooling mod in the book to get it to run consistently at acceptable temps. Just Koyo radiator (75/25 water/coolant mix) and oil cooler he was still seeing 260* water temps after a few laps.
haha, those are pretty sweet actually for the NC... but expensive.. to be honest I'd rather go built engine and turbo, then I could have the power for the street and turn down the boost to something reasonable for the track, and prolly still come out cheaper than a V8 swap
NAs and by extension NBs were designed to accommodate a larger motor from the factory, so there's lots of space in the engine bay.
I think a V8 swap would be the ultimate street bruiser, but I agree it's probably a bit much power and price wise for the track.

I haven't heard of the V6 swap for the NC (or the prev gen for that matter), the swap I was referring to is the 2.5L 4 cyl out of any 09+ Mazda or Ford. The long block is a direct swap, just take out the balance shaft, bolt up the oil pan and crank pulley out of my car, and everything bolts up with oem parts. Although I'll get aftermarket engine poly engine mounts to control engine movement a bit better
What about a K-series motor swap? http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cult...swapped-miata/

If I could find a cheap Miata, it would definitely be my engine of choice.

Gotcha. Yeah, we were going to go the V6 route because the engine is light, 300hp, AND has VTEC. :P
