Expensive is relative though, age and price when new have no effect on the price now with cars like these. The price is where its at because that's what people (the market demand) looking for a s2k have determined its value is at (what they are willing to pay). I would pay 22-25k for a 06+ AP2 with <45,000 miles without hesitation.

of course its relative, most importantly relative to the price history of the actual car. in the post quoted below you said they will "begin to appreciate", I was just stating that they already started appreciating from where they were (considering used market only) from about 2007-2011 to about 2016... I'm not saying they're over priced or unaffordable or not worth their current market value, just that they've already climbed in price about about 50% from their lowest point

For people that beat the snot (use as intended up to the redline) out of it but do all recommended maintenance -- what's the reliability of the engine?

certain years need valve adjustments that can cause issues if not done, and it's not part of "regular" maintenance, so there could be owners that don't know about it.
If tracked on really sticky tires it can cause some oiling issues which can shorten its life

othet than those 2 items, it's one of the most bulletproof production engines made

To add to this, it was only the 2006 cars that need valve adjustments. Also, early AP1s tend to have cracked valve spring retainers if beaten on with mileage or over-revved (3rd to 2nd misshift).

Very nice! I had a 05 NFR AP2. Only modification I had were Coil-overs and a hardtop. That thing was fun. I ended up selling it to get my Evo X. I kinda want another in Championship White.

I always wonder about S2KI as a buying source. I'd like to think the cars for sale there are in better shape but that might just be wishful thinking.

I wonder how the driving experience will compare to the updated Miata with more power?

How much can you gain by tuning the 06+ vs the earlier "analog"/throttle plate cars?

More so due to being able to use Hondata flashpro rather than going full stand alone like AEM, The 00-05's can't be flashed.

Did you buy this from Canada? A friend of mine sold his LBP S2000 not too long ago. Since I want a house, I'm selling my yellow 2001 right now, too. The market seems pretty weak where I am. I can't get any serious buyers at $14,000 CAD with a clean title and 112,000 miles.
