Toyota Celica 91 problem

Hi My stepdad is working on a Celica 91 that was sitting on the side of my neigbor's house for about 2 years and half in the grass. The car was not moved at all or touched since until now. Rain sun and snow has obviously been around it at the time. Now he tried to turn on the car after some fixing he had done on the car but when he tries to turn the starter starts but the engine wont run or anything. He thinks it might be the timing belt of the engine. You think that might be the problem or something else? Thanks a lot for your help!

maybe the battery is dead?

Has the gas been drained and replaced? Gas can go bad. I'm just not sure after how long.

check and see if you get a spark from the spark plugs and check if its geting fule

ya check the gas....the gas tank can get condensation inside and there maybe too much water...also check the spark plugs too and the oil..

could be electrical, check ur battery, if its charging or not. check ur cables, if its cranking then its not the starter. could also b ur alternator. , the alternator and the battery should get B+
