Gonna buy new car end of the year. Narrowed it down to these 2 cars. I know the evo hands down beats the RX8 in performance, but how about the fun factor? I hear the evo's handing is so quick it could be annoying on regular daily drives. After market wise there is none for RX8, but not really looking to modded anything or street race (I live in NY and they impound your car here for that) Maybe a little autocross at most. What ya guys think?

 

Im in the same situtaion as you but I cant test drive either one because I live in Taiwan and these cars are very rare so test driving one is out of the question I would test drive them both and see which one you think would be better. The only reason I would choose a RX-8 is because you know they wont have a new model anytime soon. I test drove a Evo 7 jap spec 2 years ago and I fell in love with it Still getting a Evo 8

 

in my opinion, it seems like EVO's never really get outdated. Whereas the Rx8's will be replaced and obsolete in within years, the EVO seems to keep its panache. Take a look. Evo VI's are still cool, EVO V's are still cool, etc etc

 

Rx7s are still cool, but thats not the point. I test drove the rx8 before i had test drove the evo and i was dissapointed already. Rx8 is a nice ride and all but the thing is torqueless, theres hardly a comparison, the rx8 is more like a luxury car with a stick shift, on the other hand, the evo is an actual performance car. These two cars are on different weight scales not the same as comparing the sti and evo....

want a fun car? go test drive a s2000. it is much more fun to drive than a boring rx-8. the only downside? it seats two.

 

since u want a fun car, an s200 like RTS EVO VIII said, or a 350Z is also really fun. dont want 2 seats? G35 coupe. sedan? how bout just a WRX instead of an STi? more comfy ride than evo.
but i would still get an evo over all the above mentioned. =D

 

A quicker steering rack is almost always better. You'll be surprised at how easily you'll learn to adapt to it. After driving a fast rack for a while you'll be getting irritated at having to make 3 full turns lock-to-lock.

Well - it's the Evo all the way. I have had it for a year now, and it's just as much of a blast as it was the day I got it

 

ok, I had an rx-8 for like 1 year, I pre-ordered it. RIDDLED with problems, engine recalled, transmission recalled, passenger airbag recalled. Three strikes and I said its out, sold it and bought an evo 8 the same day, couldnt be more happy! The evo hands down out performs it and is a lot more fun. I did fix up my RX8 and it was fun, but the rotary motor is not mod friendly. Also it lacks torque. I have raced, driven the crap out of both cars, and I still love my evo. RX8 is good for daily driving, sure it looks hot, but is that the only thing that you want? No performance is hands down nothing compared to the all wheel drive turbo charged sedan - the evo. turbo - more fun, awd - even more fun. Save your money, time, and frustration by taking my advice! I made a very expensive mistake by buying an rx8, do yourself a favor and buy an evo PERIOD!
