It needs some major work if u want that thing to look nice. WHat's the condition on the engine? Well, by the time ur done, might as well get a supra.. From what I heard, the VR4 engine/tranny is not reliable.

He's not using the VR4 Engine or the Tranny... he's using the stock Dodge Stealth RT (N/A) Engine.

Thanks for your opinion, not interested in it that much though. the motor is great, the FWD tranny is very reliable. The parts that break are the trnasfer cases and that is only on the AWD models and only after a lot of HP is in it...but even that is fully subjective. The cars are great, prettier than the Supra and I have ALWAYS wanted one. You can just wait and see what the car runs like after the TT installation. I am only in need of the actual turbos and my kit is complete. Will be done before Nov. is over.

MAYBE upgrade the already upgraded interior speakers
oil and coolant feed and return lines for turbo kit

DON'T USE the stock turbos, get like 15's for each side. It'll be more efficient and spool JUST as fast as you have a higher compression ratio.

Seems like a lot of work. I bet you can sell that and get like a 92 Vr4 for under $10,000. Ever think about that? Also go with a FMIC if you can, it is SOOOO much better then the side mounts ESPECIALLY the stock ones. Good luck

Thanks but no thanks. I am not going to do any more than the stock stuff on this KIT. I will be fast enough there. I am not interested in going any other route. I have done lots of resear h on this and this is the route I want to take. Thanks for the input though. I will post Dyno chart too after everything is done

That sounds like EVERY other Evo owner who tells the guys who want to boost on their regular lancer, "Why not just get an Evo?" How about this answer though. I have a 94...2gen, better looking. The car has only 50K miles on it, it is REAL clean and I only paid $6500 for it out the door!!! Thats all the fees, tax, EVERYTHING! And i am not a drag racer, i am very very OK with being FWD TT and having LOTS of freeway power.

Not possible ;) , you will see what I mean in the future. When boosting a car that is not meant to be boosted, there will be reliability issues that a factory turbo car will not run into. Such as

A Computer that understands and accepts boost
A Rising rate FPR that adds 1PSI of fuel per 1PSI of boost, pulls back fuel in a vacuum
Larger/more efficient radiator to cool the motor
Extra cylinder oil squirters that bring oil up and combat the higher operation temps (WAY HIGHER, turbos opperate at 1600F at WOT, if not hotter)
A cooler Thermostat to take advantage of the better cooling system
Bigger fuel injectors
Bigger Throttle Body
A better fuel pump to flow fuel needed
LSD or AWD to handle the new power
A stronger clutch to hold the power
A Gear ratio to take advantage of the power/torque
Fatter rubber from the factory to handle the power
A better suspension that comes with the car to handle the power


It seems like you are getting irritated by any comment added. Just trying to add some info or ideas for ya, that is why you posted this on the site right? Looks are subjective. Have fun with your project, just adding opinion.

Then, how about you hear it from a DSM owner. I've seen quite a few NT 420A-engined DSMers try and turbo their cars. Sure, it does make some power. But, most of the time, after all the work, you have a car that isn't even as fast as a stock turbo DSM. It'd be the same with your car, like he said. You should just sell the car, and get a TT Stealth or VR-4. Less work to do, less chance for problems down the road, less hassle. If all you want is 'stock turbo' speed out of a car, get a STOCK TURBO car.

Just to let u know Mike has owned his share of DSM's... he knows what he's doing. Just buying the car already turboed takes all the fun out of modifying the car. It's sorta like me telling you quit modifying your evo and sell it for a ferrarri if u wanna go balls out fast.

Not completely true. Cars are purpose built in to how they need to perform. Fun? Maybe, But I doubt it will run as well as it is not designed to run a turbo. Its hard work to get it to run right, especially fuel delivery, its the key element in tuning.


Again it's mu opinion, and he has his own, I just look in the long run, I can almost guarantee it'll save him money and time on repairs or just getting it to run right.

I would look for a swap, I know he loves the car, I used to be the same with my olders, bt if you have a specific goal in mind with an auto, start with the better Platform. but its only my opinion

But, if modifying the car is the goal, then why not start with a car that is already at your intended finishing point??? Thats all I'm saying. I'm not saying he doesn't know what he's doing. I'm just saying, we all know how these things end up. One thing leads to another, and pretty soon the car is getting lots of parts. So, why not just start with the car already ahead of the game, so to speak. Fun to mod, yes. Just seems like your taking 2 steps back to get started. Thats all. Have fun though.
