Help with GF's Car

My Girlfriend drives a 2002....*cough*honda*cough* civic...
ANYWAY, her daddy bought it for her, so I cant complain, but she's recently had a problem when driving in the rain at speeds in excess of 40mpg,
the car would suddenly jerk towards the left (this while driving on the highway at 60 mph, in the rain, almost taking us off the road).

Were taking it to a break shop soon to have it looked at, but if anyone has any idea what would cause this, and how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh... and it has new brakes (year old or so, it doesn’t rain her a lot), so is improper installation is likely?

get better tires.

Wait, so w/o tapping the brakes, the car just veers off the road?

It doesn't do this at any other speed?

Just driving along, and then it suddenly jerks

LanceVance Sep 12, 2006 04:50 PM

Oh, and only on the highway (60mph or so)

if your not braking its probably not brakes... Your tires are probably crap or you have a horible alignment.

Thanks for all the replys so quickly,

Yeah, she just told me her tires are as old as her car... New tires soon then, any suggestions on a budget? (its a civic... nothing special needed)

Ummmmmm this is what happens if you are driving fast and hit puddles with the left or right tire...freaking hold on better...drive with both hands, especially in the rain...

fusion

Shes skittish so it made her think her car was broken

slow_evo Sep 12, 2006 06:37 PM

Could be a loose motor mount. But since it ONLY happens at a certain speed, then maybe not.

Are the tires worn un-evenly?

If so, get new tires (not the very cheapest kind either) and get a good alignment. Should solve the prob.
