Mitsubishi deserves credit being the company that discovered a tiny 4 cylinder engine could make big power and bringing it to the consumer market.

I think Mazda is oding a better job of developing the next generation ICE. The way they change the dynamic compression is much simpler, and more effective than what Infiniti is doing here, IMO.
