My Evo's replacement - completely different direction
I've been reading the threads on what people have selected as their next vehicle after the Evo with interest. I decided to share mine. I just turned 50 and decided to do something I wanted to do a long time ago - do a restomod project on an old pickup. I bought a 1934 Ford pickup project. Several things to do, but goal is to make it a fun summer daily driver. Only thing that's original is the VIN. Definitely won't handle like the Evo or be as fast, but I think it will be fun to go in a new direction.

To quote my wife: "Only you could buy a truck that is less practical than the Evo." I do wish I could have both, but only one toy at a time.

Looks to be in fantastic condition! I do believe this will bring you more conversations and compliments from strangers than the evo ever did. Not sure how smog laws are in Vermont, but in CA anything older than 1965 goes fully smog exempt from the state's mandatory emission inspection program. I asked a state referee and he said that you can put a racing engine like this in it and all they can do is stare at it.

Fortunately the inspection requirements here are based on the year it was originally built, so no emission requirements and it needs to meet the applicable requirements from 1934. 🙂

Very cool! I can appreciate all cars, this one for sure is a worthy replacement. Best of luck with your new toy!

Cool project. What do you plan to change on it to make it your own so to speak?
|
That's so awesome. I'm so jealous! I want to do the same thing and build a frankenstein Datsun truck with maybe a 4g63 or SR20.

Passed inspection on Friday, so street legal now. Runs and drives much better.
Moving on to the interior next. |
