2006 ww ix mr
For Sale
I want this car. But I also want it to be a running one owner car with either the spares included or 60k fewer miles for that price. If any of those things changed I’d be in the market No question.
The built motor, trans, and t-case are all in. Got hung up when we went to install the turbo because FP sent me back the turbo with a broken stud and I had a guy with EDM machine melt the old snapped stud, so we could save the threads and not go a stud size over. I'm definitely leaning in the direction of keeping it now as well. Had a close friend of mine buy a "low mile" evo here recently and he kind of got screwed because it had way more rust than the seller had mentioned in his post. I told him to just buy a high mile evo and change everything out since he's planning on doing that anyway. Low miles only matters if you wanna keep everything original, otherwise who cares. Once I get the car up and running and registered in my name i'll probably take this post down.

Okay, I want to make this as clear as possible before I ask: I 100% genuinely am just curious, and I ask not to be rude or condescending at all. What is it that makes this car worth $38,000 with over 120,000 miles on it? I am truly curious. Is it the engine build? I only ask because I have an MR in amazing shape with only 104,000 miles on it and all stock drivetrain, clean title that I might have to list if this is the going price for a high mileage evo these days.

1st Perspective: The built shep trans, built transfer case with wavetrac lsd, hot rear diff, big brake kit, and coilovers are all big ticket items that help bring the price up for these cars. The Curt Brown ported parts are now considered to be extremely rare because the poor guy recently passed away. I'm sure many will claim that since you can't get those anymore the price will go up dramatically. The seller has put a lot of thought and research into this build and wants to recoup a lot of what he/she put into the vehicle and I cannot blame them for trying. Some say that buyers from outside the country (Chinese and European investors) have sought out and bought collector cars in great shape, paying a lot over what the market prices them at.
2nd Perspective: There is little to no chance that the car will sell for that price because the demographic who buys these cars normally does not have that kind of money in cash and banks will not lend you that much money for a 14 year old car unless you go personal loan with high interest, regardless of credit score. On top of that, it's still a Mitsubishi sedan with very poor investment value (most cars are horrible investments). Most mods bring down the selling price of a car unless all stock parts are included and the installation didn't scratch, ding, bend, mar, or break other parts in the process while following torque specs (most people don't pull this off). Despite what many have said, i'm still a believer that the evo 8 and 9 will go up in price like the supra did someday, but not right now.
The ones going for high prices are usually stock, low owners and low mileage. Prices appear to be on the rise but high mileage and heavily modified would not fetch the high price. Last november i got my bone stock 1 owner 03 with 17k miles on BAT for 26k. 2 weeks ago an 04 bone stock with 59k miles went for 33k. Last month an 06 MR went for almost 50k but it was bone stock and only 13k miles. For comparison back in april an 06 MR went for 25k with 89k miles and mods.

gotta love BaT
