I've had this car for a few years and it's absolutely amazing, but since I have not been driving it very much I decided I'd like to put the funds into some projects on my house. I am not in a rush to sell the car, I'm not interested in taking less than what my asking price is. I don't need help selling it either. Not interested in Trades.
So if you are reading this ad you probably already know that the Evo IX is the most sought after Evo of all the US models. It had the best power upgrades and the best looks. The IX was only made for 1 year (2006) and the top of the line version was the MR. So this is a rare car, especially with such low miles.
When I bought this car from the previous owner he was barely driving it as a weekend car and only put about 1000 miles per year. I drove it down from Sacramento and I immediately took the car to HG Autohaus in San Marcos, CA as I wanted the car dialed in with a lot of old parts replaced to keep the car fresh. While replacing some of the old factory parts that were worn out I opted to do some power upgrades at the same time, mainly a bigger, more responsive aftermarket turbo connected to an aftermarket o2 housing that goes 3" from the turbo all the way to the back. Despite such a beefy exhaust system, it is not obnoxious or screaming "pull me over" to the cops because the HKS Sport Exhaust is on the quieter side. Also extremely important was having the transmission completely refurbished by Shep. As you may know, the MR comes with a 6 speed manual while all other evos have 5 speed manual. If you read around on the online forums you'll see a lot of the MR guys switching from the 6 to the 5 because the 6 typically would fail when trying to push the car with higher power than stock. Fortunately Shep was able to rebuild the 6 speed and built it up so that it's capable of handling more power without breaking. Tons of other things have been done and i'll have a full list below.
Feel free to text/call/email questions....serious buyers only please.
Notes, including Pros/Cons and Mods. Please not that pretty much all mods were installed by HG Autohaus in 2020.
-Original Rally Red paint had a touch-up respray within past 5 years and looks really good
-JDM Rear Bumper color matched Rally Red
-Ceramic Coating has been applied to paint within the past few months
-Original MR BBS wheels
-Original MR Recaro race seats in excellent condition
-Original MR Shift knob
-Shep Built 6-Speed Manual Transmission with less than 500 miles on the rebuild
-Blouch Performance Dominator 1.0XT Stock Frame Turbo (EVO9-DOM-1.0XT)
-Invidia 3" Turbo Outlet / O2 Housing
-Invidia 3" Downpipe
-Ultimate Racing 3" High Flow Cat
-HKS Sport 3" Exhaust
-Injen Intake modified with Speed Density kit. Despite this being CA legal and the car not having an external BOV, you get an extremely loud BOV sound through the filter. Very satisfying. In fact, with this whole set up you hear more motor/turbo/BOV sounds than exhaust.
-Grimspeed Boost Controller
-Seat lowering brackets installed on front seats, this gives the car a more race-car feel. Hard to explain, but this is how it should have felt from the factory.
-Fortune Auto 500 Coilovers w/ Swift springs, installed and dialed in by HG Autohaus
-Alignment done w/ coilover install @ HG Autohaus within past 500 miles
-Tires 50%+
-Brakes 50%+
-Oil was changed less than 500 miles ago
-Coolant was flushed less than 500 miles ago
-Transmission oil was changed less than 500 miles ago
-Aftermarket 7" Double Din Android head unit Stereo. This has Bluetooth, GPS, and backup camera. Phone function with Bluetooth works great for hands free calling while driving.
-You can connect the android head unit to an OBD reader and install an app so that boost and other engine gauges can be digital displayed on the head unit
I never got around to doing the software side of this, but that was the direction i was going in.
Included but Not Installed:
-AMS Performance Front Mount Intercooler, brand new in box
-MAPerformance e85 fuel kit for 450hp
-Backup Camera
Notable Faults:
-Stereo project never completed, just needs trim pieces and backup camera installed.
-Tune was done by Delicious but is not a good tune as the RPMs drop kind of low sometimes while clutching in. I was refunded my money for it and was planning to get a full dyno tune with installation of above Front mount intercooler and e85 kit. The car is ready for 450 rear wheel horsepower no problem with those parts and a tune.
-Headlight housing has some black glue or something that doesn't look good seeping out of seals.
-The car was involved in a very minor accident with the original owner back in 2006. Carfax lists it as "Minor damage is usually cosmetic, including dents or scratches to the vehicle body." This was obviously repaired and not noticeable, previous owner said it was a front fender.
-Indentation in drivers side floor from previous owner putting jackstand in wrong spot.
-Some rusty areas near side skirts under the car

Thanks,

I hope you are not offended by constructive criticism, but I used the forum helper thing that holds your hand to set up a for sale thread and i think it could help a lot if part of that process included mentioning the photo w/ date/username.

Can you provide to us the reason for such a drastic increase in pricing from $26K to your asking price of $38K?

Maybe there’s something that we’re missing? I don’t know but it’s nice for everyone to be well informed while making this purchase. $38K might be a good price, but given what I presented, please justify.
But its a beautiful IX. Not many of them left in good shape that are for sale and that's why he can get a high asking price. GLWS
