Headin' to Tame the Dragon....

The wife and I are heading from Frederick, MD to the Tail of the Dragon on May 24 through the 28th. Anyone interested in tagging along? Obviously, we wouldn't expect anyone that goes to spend 24-7 with eachother, as we're all gonna have things we wanna do. Maybe meet for a day (or two) and take a drive down the Skyway/Dragon, and meet up for dinner or something? The wife and I are visiting some family friends, going jewel-hunting, probably do some hiking, and other than that, probably just some sight-seeing.

Anyway, if anyone's interested in getting something together, lemme know. My email's dan@topspeedautogroup.com.

I am going to be there from May 11 thru 19. I will be long gone when you get there, but have a good time, I know I will!

Damn! That sucks. But, it's gonna be a good trip for you! I believe there's a Ferrari club there for that weekend. I think I get stuck with busted-*** 350Zs. Whatever the case, it'll just give me a chance to show them how superior my $31,000 car is to theirs.

Either way, it should be a very exciting time! I hope you enjoy your trip as well!

I saw that on the Tail of the Dragon site event calender. Those guys should be all over the place on Friday. I will probably be running the Dragon during the week when there is less traffic and more room for me to play. I have been drooling over this trip all winter ling and I only have 3 weeks to go...woohoo!

Definitely! I planned my trip during the winter and I've been really anxious. Sucks we aren't gonna be there the same week!

Where are you staying? I can't remember the place where we're staying, but I think the rates were pretty reasonable. We're staying like 3 miles away from the Dragon.

Have some fun. I really want to go this year but with everything going on (buying a house, wedding, etc) it is going to be hard.

Was there last year with the Evo....what a blast!

Yeah, I really can't wait to go! I'm looking more forward to just driving it than seeing other cars there.

No other road like it.....at least in IL. Another fun road is the Cherohala Skyway. Long sweeping turns, great view, etc.

I've heard from numerous people that the Skyway is a better drive than what the Dragon is. It doesn't hurt that the Skyway's 120mi long, either. I have a feeling that I'm really going to love this vacation, and probably be relocating from Maryland.

We will be in a 4 bedroom log cabin on the side of a mountain in Pigeon Forge.

The place is awesome! I will be there with all my friends and we are bringing my IX, of course, an 03 Corvette, and 3 sportbikes and a supermotard. I will post some pics afterwards. We stayed there last year too and we take the foothills parkway to the Dragon. That road by itself is fast and winding with many high overlooks for pictures. We plan on doing a little exploring this year.

Yeah, my wife and I looked at those! Great scenery, and they look like really nice places! They were a bit on the pricey side, and we were trying to save money, so we're going to be staying at the Tapaco, I think. I can't remember. I'll have to talk to the wife.

I personally like the Skyway a little better for cars. It's more drawn out and not so tightly crammed together. Plus it's a LOT longer

I hear the Skyway's the better drive, and for some of those reasons you mention. I believe the Skyway's 120mi long.
