Calling all Virginia drivers

Admin: please don't remove.
I am not sure if this is a right place to post but I know there are many va drivers on here and often check this page.

I am not sure if this has been posted here already, but we all need to come together as a VA driver and fight for what's right. Read the petition and sign in. It's regarding new VA traffic law and fines.
Thanks

I doubt motorists will do anything to change this law. Unless anyone knows an elected official with some pull.

lol, I wouldn't doubt it. Maybe they should concentrate on the rise of gang violence in the area first.

I have a perfect driving record, but I really don't agree with this new law. I saw that you can be fined over $1,000 for not using your turn signal. That's bull****

I'm surprised how these laws are created. I mean, nobody realized that this is excessive. How can this get by so many people that no one objected.

If you're a VA resident and got clocked going 15+ over the speed limit. Your fine will start at $1000.
I think this will get drop sooner or later. It's un-constitutional.

"Eighth Amendment: forbids excessive bail or fines, and cruel and unusual punishment."

USA laws are one of the worst in the world, no country in the entire world has such a law that would give you $1000 fine for driving over the speed limit. U can drive 30mph and still is not going to be that much. It's all Politics and they make you pay for stupid reasons. It feels like communism sometimes but only that it is legal.

i'm from PA but i heard it on a talk radio. there's talk that PA might be going the same route. they can get away with it because it not a fine, they're calling it a "civil remedial fees". it's a way to raise tax revenue. 15 mph over can gets a maximum fine of $2500 plus a mandatory $1000 for the civil remedial fees. that 's freaking nuts.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/...ing-laws_N.htm

VIRGINIA TRAFFIC FINES

Virginia will institute "civil remedial fees" for Virginia residents who commit driving violations. These are on top of other fines imposed by state law. Some of the new fees:

Fee (made over three payments)

• Driving on a suspended license: $750

• Reckless driving (such as aggressive driving): $1,050

• Driving under the influence and related offenses: $2,250

• Felony convictions (such as leaving an accident scene): $3,000

And if you forgot to give turn signal when changing lanes or turning, that's $1050 + fine and point.
