please explain this fairly new exhaust concept...

dont have pics but i can explain and im sure some of you will know what im talking about.....its an electronically controlled valve that dumps open at the flick of a switch allowing you to run a somewhat of an "open header" exhaust.

is it worth it?

anyone tried it?

I think that ct9a guy runs it, it seems effective from what he's posted on it. Sounds loud as hell though. I think if you search you'll find a good post about it.

Exhaust "cut-outs"

They are known as "cut-outs" and have been around for decades
The ones I had on my 68 Camaro were placed just past the header pipes, befor any muffler (no cats). It allowed the mufflers to be bypassed

Loud as hell is right....

Yes, my great great great great great grandfather had one on his chariot. The horses would work fine under normal use, but once he cracked the whip, the sh*t would just fly straight out of their stomachs. Really great for power

it's not a "new concept".

it's been around forever.

it's an old tech. and it's fairely brutal tech.

and it messes with your fuel curve.

yes, they have been around for a long time, but I recommend not using an electronically opening dump pipe, there was someone else one here with a cutout that he just took off at the track

There's a few other threads 'bout the cut-out. A lot of people seem to hate the idea... and if they influence you to hate it too before you try it, that's ok. =]

i heart mine. =]

and yes... it has been around forever... and it works very well. I hate droning exhaust noise in the cabin... and I also like how mean it sounds, despite others thinking it sounds nasty... I like sounding like a full race car when I'm actually racing. =]
